Engaging the Enemy By Heather Boyd

Engaging the Enemy is the first book I have had the pleasure to read by Heather Boyd. Oh my what a first book I choose to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely historical romance.

Mercy, Duchess of Romsey is such a fun character. I loved her spunk and her devotion to her son. She has a lot of responsibility taking care of things for her son until he is able to take charge of the estate. Mercy is in desperate need of some assistance with the estate and also has a problem that she needs some help with. She is so excited when she finds out her husband's cousin is in town. She ask for his assistance with the estate and also confides her problem to him.

Leopold Randall has returned home to locate his siblings. He enlist the help of Mercy to assist him with his search for clues. He is determined to find his siblings that he was forced to separate from. I really liked Leopold too, he is a determined, loyal gentleman that is just what Mercy and her son Edwin need in their life.

I truly enjoyed reading Mercy & Leopold's story. They are such compelling couple that I just could not put this book down. They had so many trials to over come in their path together.

There is a lot of drama, some really hot romance scenes, and some moments that are quite humorous. This story really kept me guessing who was causing the problems for Mercy and Edwin. I had several suspects. The plot is a page turner. I enjoyed this book so much that the next book in the series has moved to next in my to be read pile.

If you enjoy a good historical romance with some mystery, drama, and romance I think you will enjoy this one.

Sweet Madness by Heather Snow

I have been in a historical romance mood the last couple of days and let me tell you Sweet Madness fit my bill for a great historical romance. This is the first opportunity I have had to read a book by Heather Snow and it most certainly will not be my last. She has a great writing flow that kept me completely interested in her historical romance. I know I can't wait to see what other wonderful stories Heather Snow has.

I found the characters in this book so charming and entertaining. Lady Penelope Bridgeman is a sweet, kind, caring, and  intelligent lady that captured my interest right away. She has suffered so much loss and tried so hard to help her husband. When she was unable to help her husband she went through a deep mourning period. She is finally able to find her relief in helping others who have suffered battle fatigue. Penelope has such a unique way of helping these soldiers and it is very interesting to see how they treated the soldiers of the early 1800's.

Poor Gabriel Devereaux has an extreme case of battle fatigue. He has periods of complete madness and he does not remember anything during these times. This gentleman is in dire need of help, a caring source of help. He finds that in Penelope. When she is ask by his family to see if she is able to help Gabriel she is quite glad to be of assistance. Gabriel is reluctant to accept her help however he does decide to give her a chance to help. He has always had a fondness for Penelope and doesn't want her to see him this way. However Penelope convinces Gabriel to let her have a chance, this is something that she needs.

These two are exactly what each other needs. I really liked Gabriel and Penelope and thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. I was kept completely enthralled all the way through this story. There is a lot of drama and twist that Gabriel and Penelope have to over come in order to be together.

I think if you enjoy historical romance you will enjoy Sweet Madness, I know I honestly enjoyed this story.

manataka by Ella J. Phoenix

manataka  is the first book I have had the pleasure to read by Ella J. Phoenix. This book is full of drama that keeps you turning pages. I found it to be a very interesting reading.

I loved the character of Chloe. This girl has had some interesting dreams that she is trying to figure out. When she starts seeing things that she has seen in her dreams she knows that she needs to find out what her dreams all these years have meant.

Chloe is a very strong girl that is determined to find answers. She is also smart enough to ask a lot of questions. When she meets Mason she knows he is the man that can assist her. She is sure he can help her but she wonder if she can she truly trust him. Mason is a wonderful hero that really draws you into the story.

Chloe and Mason have a great chemistry going between them.  They have a lot to go through in order to be together. I really enjoyed reading their story.

This was a great Native American story that is set in the present day and also take a few trips back to the past. There is some paranormal features to the story.  I really enjoyed the powers that Ella J. Phoenix created. manataka is a really good story with a lot of twist,  turns, and some wonderfully sweet romance that I truly enjoyed reading.

I would recommend this book if you like a good mystery paranormal romance story. I think you will enjoy it. I know I most certainly did.

Hearts and Flour By Tara Lain

Hearts and Flour is the first book I have had the pleasure to read by Tara Lain. It most certainly won't be my last. Tara Lain has a nice flow of telling a story that keeps you turning pages. This is a really great story about two totally opposite guys. I really enjoyed reading about Micah & Quentin.

Micah Truveen thinks he has his life under control. He has a fabulous business of selling raw, vegan food in his restaurant that he loves. He also has what he thinks is  the "perfect" boyfriend.  Just when he thinks all is perfect he finds out his boyfriend is cheating on him and a cupcake store has opened up next door. His customers are buying lots of cup cakes after working so hard to purify their systems. It's driving Micah nuts! Dang his world was just falling apart. I loved Micah, he such a sweet, caring guy. He needs a break for things to go well for him.  He goes to a party at his friend's house and meets Quentin Darby. The sparks between these two turn into  fireworks from the beginning.

Quentin Darby is leading a double life. He is a cupcake baker gentleman  (yes the same cup cake store that is driving Micah nuts) taking care of his grandma in the light of day. By Night Quentin is Queen a cross dressing gay man that has knocked the socks off Micah. Quentin has not came out to his grandma and thinks she knows nothing of his double life. I  really loved Quentin's Grandma, she is one cool lady that knows more then people think she does.

Things get complicated and these two have work out a lot of things in order to get together. I loved this story is shows how quickly you can form feelings for someone and want to protect them.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a HOT, HOT, quick read that keeps you turning pages to see how these two are finally going to get together.

I would highly recommend this book if you are a fan of m/m erotica. I think you'll love it.  Of course if you are already a fan of Tara Lain I'm sure you will enjoy this one. I know I sure did. I can't wait to see what she has planned for her next book.

The Wanderer by Robyn Carr

I am a huge fan of Robyn Carr's Virgin River series so I was extremely excited to read the first book in the new Thunder Point Series. I love small town romance series books, and this one is another great series!

In The Wanderer we get to catch up with Hank Cooper whom we met in one of the Virgin River Series books. Cooper has arrived in Thunder Point after the death of his friend Ben. He is looking for some closure on what really happened to Ben. Cooper finds himself the new owner of Ben's bait shop and beach land. Now he has to determine what he is going to do with it. He also wants to find out what really happened to Ben. It turns out it might not have been as much of an accident as the authorities thought to begin with.

When Cooper meets a young man named Landon, whom is having some trouble, he finds himself wanting to help Landon. His friendship with Landon leads to Landon's sister arriving at his door. Sarah Dupre has been basically a single mother whom is guardian of her brother. She is recently divorced which has left her with some trust issues. She isn't ready for a new relationship but she finds herself attracted to Cooper.  She is a busy lady with taking care of her brother and as a pilot with the Cost Guard.

Not only do we get to watch Cooper & Sarah falling in love we get to meet some of the fine folks of Thunder Point. I can tell already this is going to be another fabulous series that I am going to impatiently await the next book.

This book covers the topic of high school kids and bullying. I think it does a great job of showing how dangerous a bullying situation could turn into. Bullying is such a dangerous thing and the bullies can do a lot of harm. It can turn from threats into series action. Robyn Carr has done a good job of showing a case of bullying that turned quite dangerous.

I can't wait to see what Robyn Carr has planned next for our readers in her new series. I would highly recommend this book if you are a Robyn Carr fan or if you love small town romance series stories.

Take Me Home, Cowboy By Krista Ames

Take Me Home, Cowboy is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Krista Ames and let me tell you it sure won't be my last. I absolutely loved this book. It had my attention captured on the first page. Krista Ames did a fabulous job of putting together a great contemporary western romance. I know I'll be on the look out for more books by her.

When Ally Kincaid goes home to see her father she meets the handsome new foreman.  I loved Ally she is a  country girl born and raised but has moved to the city. This girl is full of spunk and has no problem speaking what is on her mind. This gets her in trouble a few times but handsome cowboy Matt Gentry finds her so hot he forgives her pretty quick. The steam and sparks between these two is HOT.

Matt Gentry is one HOT cowboy with a past he is trying to deal with. Things have happened in Matt's past that he feels guilty about, so he's not real forth coming with his past. This presents some problem with his relationship with Ally. Matt thinks once Ally knows about his past he'll lose her.

Ally & Matt have an instant attraction that neither is sure should be there. Ally doesn't trust Matt with a past he doesn't want to talk about & he's her Dad's foreman. Matt doesn't want to get into a relationship with the boss's daughter. They just can't deny the attraction though. I really enjoyed watching these two spar and then make up.

I love a good western cowboy romance with some hot loves scenes. How can you possibly go wrong with a HOT cowboy? I would highly recommend this book to all the western romance fans out there. I think you will enjoy it, I know I did.

Crisis of Identity by Denise Moncrief

I've become a fan of Denise Moncrief, she has a way of telling a wonderful mystery that keeps you totally enthralled. Crisis of Identity was no exception to that. I truly was hooked on this book from page one. The story has so many twist that I was turning pages very quickly. There is never a dull moment for poor Tess.

Tess Copeland has enough problems of her own. She is on the run from the law for a crime that she didn't "really" commit. She takes on the identity of a deceased woman. Little does she know but Shelby Coleman seems to have as many problems as Tess if not more. People seem to want Shelby dead so Tess is in a lot of danger. Tess has spunk, is very independent, and is so creative to get out of the messes she finds herself in, you just have to love her.

She meets a US Marshall, Jake Coleman that has been searching for her. She also meets up with Trevor Smith that claims he is a PI. Can Tess really trust either of these men to keep her safe or is one or both of them out to get her. She has a lot of trust issues with plenty of just cause. This girl has a lot of problems on her plate.

There is also the romance that develops between Tess and Trevor. She has feelings for him but can she trust these feeingls or is Trevor just out to get her too?

This is a really good mystery story. There is so much going on I kept thinking wow what is going to happen next!

I would recommend this book if you are looking for a good mystery with some romance thrown in.

Windfall by L.J. Martin

Windfall is the first book I have had the pleasure to read by L.J. Martin and I have to say it won't be the last. I really enjoyed Windfall. It was a easy flowing book that covered a lot of things. There is drama with business issues and romance with all the complications of not enough communications. This book was a real page turner. Windfall takes place in the 1980's with flashback scene's to the 1960's.

David Drake has been through a lot. He was in the air force during the war, he's a very astute business man with a lot of irons in the fire, and he's a man with a lot of women problems. The biggest problems being he and the love of his life just can not seem to get on the same page at the same time.

Vicki Benvinuti is the president of her family owned business. She makes a lot of improvements and adds to the business. She is involved in taking the public for trade.  She is a very good business woman in a time when woman are more common in the kitchen then in the boardroom. This woman knows what she wants and she knows how to make things happen. She also has men problems. She's divorced and in love with her high school sweetheart that has broken her heart several times.

When someone comes after both David & Vicki's companies they have to learn to work together and trust each other. This is their shot to finally get their happily ever after.

I truly enjoyed this book. There is a lot of business complication that is interesting to watch them work through. The romance between Vicki & David is sweet, hot, and so heart full.  These two are meant to be together.

Deceptions of the Heart by Denise Moncrief

Denise Moncrief has done it again, she kept me completely enthralled all the way through this book. Deceptions of the Heart is full of so many twists & turns that the drama keeps you turning pages very quickly. The concept behind this story is so interesting I was completely hooked from page one.

Rhonda Prentiss wakes up one morning in a bed she has never seen, with a husband she doesn't know, in a house she has no memory of living in,  with people she has never meet in her life, and a face in the mirror she has never seen. She soon discovers that she is living the life of Jennifer Cristobal. However she has no memories that belong to Jennifer and only remembers Rhonda's life. She finds herself in a lot of dramatic situations and very unsure who she can trust. Who are these people in Jennifer's life and are they trying to kill her on purpose? Can she return to Rhonda's life and get help there? Can she trust Jennifer's husband and her step daughter to help her? Can she trust the doctor that has been treating Jennifer?

She figures out that Rhonda has passed away and Jennifer has received her heart via a heart transplant. Somehow this has caused Rhonda's memories to be trapped in Jennifer's body. Like I said the concept behind this book really kept me interested. This is such an interesting concept. Could this really happen?

I really enjoyed this book and could not stop reading. I could not wait to see what was going to happen to Rhonda/ Jennifer and who's memories were actually going to stay with Jennifer's body.

I would recommend this book to all those out there that enjoy mystery with a little romance. If you like some interesting twist with your story I think the twists and turns in Deceptions of the Heart will keep you reading.

Eye of the Storm By Denise Moncrief

Eye of the Storm By Denise Moncrief is part of the Moonlight Mysteries series. I have read three books from this series now and they have all been good, quick reading, short mysteries. I enjoyed Eye of the Storm just as much as the previous two books I had read.

Kieran Talbot has enough problems of her own that she is trying to get away from. She's at her friend's beach house to re-group. The weather is turning nasty and she is just settling in to wait out the storm.  She doesn't need or want another problem to show up on her door step. That's exactly what she gets in the form of bloody and injured Davis Jackson. Kieran puts her medical skills to use and help him the best she can with what she has to work with.

Kieran and Davis are just getting to know each other when trouble for both of them appears.  These two are going to have to work together to survive.  Not only are they in danger from some bad folks, they have a nasty hurricane to dell with.  You talk about bad luck, it seems to be following these two around.

Denise Moncrief has a way of putting a lot of drama and Action into 26 pages. This is another one of those page turners that you just have to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. This book throws in some twist that you don't expect and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed this short story mystery romance.

If you enjoy a good mystery with some romance included, in the short story form, then you are going to enjoy this book.

Threat To Our Forever By Em Epe

Threat To Our Forever By Em Epe is part of the Moonlight Mysteries series. I really enjoyed reading this book. Oh my goodness this is one of those books that just really grabs you from the beginning. From page one I was enthralled and completely caught up in the mystery and drama. I could not put this book down.

Lilly and Sam Kendell are facing something that no parent should have to go through. Their daughter has been terribly hurt and they don't know who is responsible for the crime. Sam has a dangerous job that could have endangered his daughter, his daughter is dating someone that could also have caused danger, and Lilly's family has some connections that could also be dangerous. They have to figure out who is the threat before something else happens to their family. Sam will do anything to protect his wife and daughters. Their marriage is already strained, will all this drama cause their marriage to completely fall apart?

There is a lot of drama, action, and unconditional love in this book. Em Epe has combined some of my favorite reading themes to put this wonderful book together. I love a good mystery with some drama and then a sweet love story thrown in.  You may want to grab a box of Kleenex because there is a lot of emotion in Threat To Our Forever.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick mystery read. If you enjoy a short story mystery with some sweet romance I think you will really enjoy this wonderful story.

An Impostor in Town by Denise Moncrief

An Imposter in Town by Denise Moncrief is part of the Moonlight Mysteries Series. This is the second book I have read by Denise Moncrief, she has a way of telling a mystery in a short story that keeps you turning the pages.

I enjoyed reading about Peyton Chandler and all the things she has lived through. This is one woman that is due a break. She has been on the run and given up so much. I loved when she was finally starting to get a nice relationship with Sheriff Brian Parker. The secrets that Peyton is keeping could ruin their relationship.

Brian Parker has a thing for falling for women that have secrets or don't remember their past. Can the relationship he has formed with Peyton be strong enough to keep them together after he learns all Peyton's secrets.

This book is filled with lots of drama and some sweet romantic scenes. I think you will enjoy this book if you love a good mystery.
