EXCERPT:

“My God, woman.”

“Too much?” She crosses her arms over her chest. “I wanted something that made me feel sexy. It’s stupid and trashy, isn’t it?”

Uncrossing her arms and nodding towards her body I say, “That could never be considered stupid or trashy. I’m pretty sure it’s the best damn idea you’ve ever had.”

She laughs. “Really?”

I nod enthusiastically. “Uh huh, definitely. Best. Idea. Ever.”

Read an excerpt:

Egads. She wants to speak with him before the wedding…

The door opened immediately, as though she’d been standing there waiting. At the sight of her, his heart stalled and his throat tightened. She had this effect on him each and every time he saw her. God, she was so beautiful.
Her eyes widened, as though she was surprised to see him, which befuddled him, because she’d asked him to come. Then her gaze raked him. He liked to think that look in her eye was a glimmer of appreciation. “Dunnet,” she said. “You’re . . . dressed.”
Aye. Dressed for a wedding. He couldn’t help but notice she was not.
“Lady . . . Hannah.” He bowed. “You wanted to . . . talk?”
She nodded briskly and opened the door wider, stepping back to allow him to enter. He did so and closed the door behind him. The click was deafening. It was not lost on him that he was in her bedchambers. His gaze flicked to the bed. It was slightly rumpled. That made him feel slightly rumpled as well.
This was not the time for his passion to rise.
It did.
“Thank you for coming,” she said, turning away to pace. “I know you are prepared to marry . . . forthwith.” He had no idea why she emphasized the word as she did. “But before we exchange our vows, I have some things that I need to say.”
He nodded, even as relief gushed through him.
She hadn’t changed her mind.
And if she had things to say, he should probably stay silent. And listen.
“You and I need to have an understanding.”
“An . . . understanding?”
“Aye.” His hope was supplanted by a hint of disappointment when she said in a very businesslike tone, “We both know this is a marriage of convenience.”
His gaze snapped to her face. Ernest though her expression was, it lacked the dreamy, romantic tinge a groom might hope for. In fact, she set her chin and shot him a very unromantic glance.
A marriage of convenience? A cold, heartless, distant union? Denial howled. Suddenly, to his surprise, he found he wanted something very different. He longed to respond, to cry out his dissent, but his throat locked.
“There is no reason to pretend this is something other than it is. I agreed to marry you because Dounreay needs your protection and you agreed to marry me for my lands. We are marrying for no other reason. Aye. I understand that. We understand that.”
Nae. We understood nothing of the sort. There was another reason he was determined to marry her, did she but realize.
He wanted her.
“Regardless, Dunnet, my wish is for a peaceful union.”
Peaceful. Aye. Peaceful was good.
“I should like for us to work together as a team. In partnership.”
Aye. He had a partnership in mind. . . .
“If I’m going to pledge myself to a man forever, I need to know that he will respect me. That he will honor my wishes. I need to know he will take my counsel into account.” She fixed Alexander with a steady gaze, as though she expected a response. So he nodded.
She was so beautiful, so earnest. So tantalizing.
He stepped closer, intent on his target.
Her eyes widened as he neared. Her hand on his chest stalled his approach and her brow wrinkled. Her gaze flicked to his mouth and her tongue peeped out, wetting her lips, igniting a flame in his belly. With great effort, she ripped her gaze away and frowned. “Do you agree to my terms?” she asked.
He cupped her cheek and angled her head up. Her breath caught. Her features froze as she realized his intent. “Aye,” he said. “Aye.” And then he did what he’d been thinking about for weeks. What he’d been obsessing over all day. He kissed her.
And it was glorious.

A shiver rippled over Hannah’s skin as Dunnet took her mouth. His taste, his scent, infused her. It was a light kiss, a testing foray, but it sent an unholy thrill through her and left her wanting one thing. More.
She had wanted this chance to speak with him privately, to receive his assurances that their marriage would be a partnership, to set her mind at rest, and he’d done that. But if she was being truthful . . . something like this had been on her mind as well, skulking there behind her noble intentions, a roiling hunger. A curiosity. A need.
She’d kissed him before and he had turned away. She desperately needed to know if, in his heart, he had any passion for her whatsoever.
He lifted his head—way too soon—and stared down at her. “Hannah . . . ” he murmured.
Even as she attempted to rein in her disappointment at his withdrawal, his hold on her cheek tightened, his eyes narrowed, and he issued a noise, something gruff and deep, something that sent a lick of exhilaration through her.
He yanked her closer. The feel of his body against hers, rigid and unyielding, made her head spin. His fingers threaded through her hair and he held her steady as his head descended again. She sucked in a breath, quivering with anticipation.
And ah. Ah.
This kiss was different.
This wasn’t tentative in the slightest. It was a taking. A mad, starved consummation of her mouth with his, a melding of lips and tongue and need.
This was as wild as the windy squalls off the coast. As tantalizing as the fairy wisps at dusk. As scorching as the forge where razor-sharp steel was tempered and formed.
And it cut through her like a screaming wind, an enticing magic, a warm blade.
Scuttles of heat rose in her womb. Rivulets of excitement danced in her veins. His taste filled her senses, her mouth, her soul.
When he lifted his head, a glimmer danced in his eye. It was the look of a conquering hero, a savage Scotsman, a man whose hunger had been sated but ignited at the same time.
Oh heavens.
Exultation whipped through her. Her knees were weak and her body melted.
Damn her reservations.
Damn her fears.
Damn her doubts about whether or not he really wanted her.
She wanted him. And she would have him.
It was gratifying to see that he was not unaffected. His breath came heavy and hard and there was a slight tremble in his voice when he spoke. It was one word and one word only, forced out and wreathed in a growl, but it was enough.
“Mine.”

~*~*~*~*~*~
Interview:

Crystal: Today Megan Gaudino has stopped by to celebrate the release of her book Always Kiss Me Goodnight. Welcome Megan! I'm so happy to have you here today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Megan: Hi! I’m Megan Gaudino, I’m the author of Always Kiss Me Goodnight. My story was originally posted on Wattpad.com and has gained over two million reads so if there are any Wattpad friends out there KEEP WRITING! I work in a high school library and love that I get to spend my day with fellow bookworms surrounded by novels.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

Megan: The sequel to Always Kiss Me Goodnight. I’m not quite ready to leave Sophia and Leo yet. The whole thing is actually written and I had a blast exploring their relationship so right now I’m really trying to get in there and edit. Sequels are great because writing them is like visiting an old friend. I missed Sophia and Leo so it’s been a fun time getting to know them all over again.

Crystal:  Where did you come up with the idea for for either your current release or the WIP you are working on now?

Megan: The idea for Always Kiss Me Goodnight came from the question: Is your fate is predetermined or does it change daily with every decision you make? This book really explores what it means to believe in fate and what happens when you go against it. Sophia’s life is in danger but Leo steps in and changes everything forcing Sophia to explore the role fate plays in her life.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite snack that like to munch on while writing? If so would you mind sharing what it is with us?

Megan: There’s nothing specific I like to eat while writing but I do love to drink lime water out of a mason jar with a bendy straw too, of course. If i don’t have the straw forget it!

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Megan: In chapter twelve Leo takes Sophia to his house for the first time and it’s a scene that really solidifies their relationship. In order to get to Leo’s house they have to trek through the woods, then after a series of obstacles, they end up in a sandstone cave. Sophia is a huge fan of caves, crystals, and rock formations in general but tends to keep this to herself. However when Leo brings her to this cave she is overwhelmed with it’s beauty and she and Leo share this magical moment.

Crystal:  When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

Megan: I love to read as much as I can when I’m not writing, that’s a given, but I also never pass up an opportunity to take a road trip. I’m obsessed with Instagram so I love going to explore different places and taking pictures. It’s amazing what you can find just a few hours away from home. Plus, it’s a great way to get inspiration for my writing.

Crystal:  Do you have a favorite background noise you like to having going while you write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

Megan: Yes! Haha. I need noise while writing and it could be almost anything. Having the TV playing in the background is always convenient so I’ll usually put on Friends reruns that I’ve seen probably at least ten times so it’s not a distraction and more just like white noise. I can’t have music playing unless it’s classical and has no lyrics because I always find myself singing along.

Crystal:  Thank you for visiting today. It has been a pleasure to visit with you. Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

Megan: Thank you so much for having me! You asked some really fun questions and it was a pleasure to answer them.

Excerpt:

What a waste last night was. I would’ve laughed out loud
about how tragically ironic it all was if I could have. My lungs started to
twinge at the thought of laughing. They wanted to be filled with fresh air.

The finale of my life was playing out before me. I recalled
the peaceful feeling from my dream. I was just waiting for it to happen. My
lungs were screaming at me to breathe. This was it. Time was almost up and I
was waiting for my life to flash before my eyes when movement out of the water
caught my attention. Leo was standing on the edge of the pool. He was shirtless
and surrounded by the light, making me question if I’d died and gone to heaven.

He dove into the pool an instant later and scooped me up in
his arms, obelisk and all, just as he had the night before, then pushed up to
the surface of the water in no time flat.

The extra couple hundred pounds of weight I and the
obelisk—mostly the obelisk…I think—added did nothing to slow him down. We shot
out of the water as if we had the help of a cannon, not just Leo’s legs.

I gasped for air as soon as my face was free of the water.
The breath felt so good my lungs craved more and more. I kept inhaling the air
as if it were being funneled down my throat.

Leo swam to the side of the pool, using only his legs to
keep us afloat. With one hand, he threw the obelisk all the way in the bed of
wildflowers and pulled us up out of the water.

We sat on the edge of the pool with his feet in the water
and me on his lap, vowing to never again take air for granted and wondering
what happened that made my dreams start coming true.

Using his thumbs to push the water out of my eyes, he laced
his hands through my soaking wet hair and rested his palms on my cheeks.

“Sophia?” I coughed up some water and he turned my head to
the side. “Sophia, are you okay?”

The air was flowing easily in and out of my lungs. They felt
calmed; they knew they would be getting air on a regular basis.

“I’m okay.” I coughed one more time, then took another deep
breath to clear my reeling mind and tried to speak again. “I’m fine.”

Physically I was fine but mentally I wasn’t. The world I
lived in up until this point didn’t consist of anything supernatural or
unexplainable happening except the occasional perfect hair day and the beauty
of an aquamarine crystal.

Leo stood easily from his seated position with me still in
his arms and crushed my chest to his. Of course I couldn’t help but wrap my
arms around his bare torso but his skin felt so hot to the touch. Between the
freezing cold of my body and the warm temperature of his I felt overwhelmed.
Everywhere our bodies came in contact with each other little puffs of visible
steam arose.

When we made it to the living room Hercules began lapping up
the puddles of water we left behind us. Leo yanked the gray blanket off of the
armchair and wrapped it around me because I was suddenly shaking.

He moved a salt stone lamp out of his way and sat on top of
the coffee table, motionlessly taking in my expression. Before he even spoke I
just knew he was reading me all wrong. I felt like I could read him already
too.

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Sophia,” he groaned.

“For what? My idiotic carelessness or that you saved
my life
once again? You shouldn’t be sorry about either of those

things.”

“I shouldn’t have let that happen. I shouldn’t have been
sleeping still. I promised you I’d protect you and look what happened. Do you
have any idea how close you were to dying? Even closer than you were last
night. If I was just one second later I would’ve been too late.”

“I know. I was there. But you weren’t too late. It’s all over
now—I’m fine.” He put his head in his hands and scrunched his hair in his
palms. “Leo.” I reached forward and placed my hand on his arm. He was still so
hot to the touch. “Why’s your skin so hot again?”

He flinched away from my hand, stood up, folded his arms
across his chest and turned his back to me. His reaction made me question my
gesture.

“It’ll go away.”

“Yeah but why does it happen at all?”

He hesitated for just a moment before he answered. “Because
I keep saving your life.”

“I thought angels are supposed to save lives.”

“I already told you. I’m not an angel. I’m not supposed to
save lives.”

Hannah and the Highlander by Sabrina York ~ Untamed Highlanders #1 ~ Review

I am guilty of not having read many highlander stories yet when I heard about Sabrina York's new series. If Sabrina York writes it, I know there is a really good chance I'm going to LOVE it. Well Sabrina quickly introduced me to a new to me genre to know and love. Hannah and the Highlander is beyond awesome. I was captivated from page one and highly addicted by page two. I devoured this book in no time flat.

Hannah Dounreay is a very intelligent, independent, strong willed and strong minded lady. I found an instant bond with Hannah. I loved her attitude and her unique outlook on life, land, and love. She is certainly a lady ahead of her time. Poor Hannah had horrible prospects for husbands. No wonder this girl didn't want to marry any of those hooligans.

Alexander Lochlannach the Laird of Dunnet has not had an easy life. He has things in his life that he doesn't want to share with anyone. He is loyal to his family and people.  He's dedicated to his land, family, and tenants. He has a huge heart and is incredibly sweet.

When Alexander meets Hannah he knows he has meet his future wife. Hannah thinks he's quite handsome but incredibly quiet.

Hannah and Alexander are quite a pair. They don't know each other well at all and at times Hannah is a little frustrated.  I really liked how much they both loved their families and the loyalty they showed to them.

I could keep talking about this great book and tell you all kinds of fabulous details. However, I know you are going to want to grab a copy and read all this wonderfulness for yourself. So I'll just tell you a few things.

There are some VERY dramatic moments that left me clinging to my kindle and turning the pages just a quickly as I could. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next and how some of the troubles would be solved. I had a few tears at times. Those dramatic moments were filled with some very heartfelt emotions.

Sabrina York would not be Her Royal Hotness without her classic steam scenes. This lady certainly knows how to write a steamy scene. Be sure to watch your fingers. You may come away from this story with slightly tinged fingers.

Hannah and the Highlander is hot and steamy, wild and suspenseful, with some sweet and funny through in for good major. I don't know how you could possible go wrong with this book. I know I would highly recommend it to any highlander fan or any of my fellow Sabrina York fans. If you adore Ms. York's work as much as I do and haven't read a highland book, never fear I think you'll love it as much as I do. If you are a highlander fan and haven't read a Sabrina York book yet, well don't wait, hit buy now right NOW! You are going to love this book.

I am hooked and I can not wait for the the next book in the Untamed Highlanders series! Susana the Scot is sure to be just as fabulous as Hannah and the Highlander. I am anxiously awaiting Sabrina York's next release. I've found it doesn't matter what genre it is, it will be an awesome read that I will not be able to put down.

Ms. York, you have done it again! You have yet another awesome book on your hands here.

I was given the opportunity to read this great book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Hannah and the Highlander.

Celestial Enchantment by Grace Augustine ~ Diva to the Guides Trilogy ~ Review

Celestial Enchantment is the final book in the Diva to the Guides Trilogy. I think this may have been my favorite in the trilogy . I am sad this is the last book in the trilogy though. I have grown attached to my friends and I will miss them.

Bart Carrington was married to the love of his life and they shared everything together. When a tragic accident took away his wife and the mother of his children, Bart didn't know what to do. He found the only way to cope was to harden his heart and not show his emotions to anyone, including his children. He locked everyone out of his life. When his daughter Charisse was involved in a dramatic accident his friend Karan helps him find his way back to his family.  And just maybe a way to start to heal his broken heart.

I have to admit when this trilogy started I did not like Bart. I found him to be pushy and just not caring. After I found out why, my heart went out to him. I enjoyed learning more about Bart in Celestial Enchantment.

Karan Seymour is one of those amazing people I would love to meet and get to know. She has unique talents that are quite interesting to read about. Karan is one of those characters I could not help but bond with right away. She loves her family with all her heart and is just a sweet wonderful person.

Karan ends up in a very dangerous situation that me holding on tight to the edge of my seat and flipping pages just as quickly as I could. I loved how the Carrington and  Seymour family works together and stand together. The negative force finds out pretty quickly that you don't mess with this family. With their combined talents and their love they are a force to be reckoned with.

I don't want to tell you too much about Celestial Enchantment. I highly recommend that you grab your own copy now and start reading. This is a fairly short story and I will admit to not being able to stop reading. Once I started this book I could not put it down until I reached the end.

Celestial Enchantment has all the elements I love in a good story. There is  suspense, a touch mystery, a nice romance, loving family moments, interesting characters with unique talents, and a captivating storyline. All put together by a very talented author that has a lovely writing style and voice that I just adore.  I adore everything that Grace Augustine writes and I can not wait for her next release.

I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Celestial Enchantment.

You may read more of my reviews on Grace Augustine's work here.
