EXCERPT:
When Tony exited the room, closing the door behind him, Angelina and the blue-eyed man eyed each other. Not knowing what to say, she waited for him to make the first move, feeling incredibly vulnerable standing there alone with him while wearing nothing more than sexy lingerie, stiletto heels, and diamond dust.
He cleared his throat. “Could I interest you in spending some time together to get to know each other better?”
Angelina held his gaze as he stepped closer, not stopping until they were inches apart. He was so much taller, she had to tilt her head back to maintain eye contact. The stiletto heels helped, so she gauged him to be a little over six feet tall.
“Exactly what did you have in mind?”
Leaning forward, he whispered into her ear, “I know who you are.”
Angelina stilled at his words and their implication. How could he know she was undercover? She’d assumed Colt, the bartender, was their informant. The detectives never mentioned a club member assisting them.
To defuse the situation, she leaned up on tiptoe, and their bodies touched briefly as she said softly, “I don’t know who you are.”
“I’ll keep your secret if you help me out.” He slipped his hands around her bare waist and pulled her into his arms, and she let out a surprised little gasp at the intimacy. “We have to put on a show to make the members believe I’m into this kind of thing. We’ll have to go upstairs.” He ran his fingers through her hair and whispered once more. “This place is bugged, and everything we do here is videotaped.”
Taking a step back, she looked into his eyes, trying to determine whether he was lying or playing a game.
He wrapped her in his arms again before she could speak and dropped his head forward, whispering close to her ear. “We’ll pretend to have sex, and I’ll keep you from the cameras as best I can. Then you’ll leave with me, and we can go where we can really talk. Trust me.”
Angelina lifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck as she tilted her head back, narrowing her eyes at him as she considered his words. He shifted her to the side and lowered her farther back, almost as if he were dipping her in a dance, then leaned forward to kiss her.
His mouth covered hers easily with a firm, undemanding pressure that told her he was holding back. That if he were truly kissing her like he wanted, his kiss would be harder, persistent, and oh so yummy.
Slowly, he raised them both upright and said, “You can call me Morgan.”
“Hi.” She smiled and looked coyly up at him through her lashes, trying to play her part now that she knew there were cameras. “My name’s Angel.”
Morgan’s mouth curled with amusement.
