#Interview - New Beginnings by Iris Blobel

~~  New Beginnings ~~
(2nd Edition)
by Iris Blobel
Interview:

Crystal: I'm thrilled to have Iris Blobel join visiting today. Welcome Iris! Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Iris: My name is Iris and I live in Australia, in a little place about 100 km west of Melbourne. It’s currently Winter at this end of the world, and I’m answering your wonderful questions I sit next to the heater, drinking a nice cup of tea. I was born and raised in Germany, however, and moved here just short of 20 years ago … which kind of makes me feel old. I’m married and have two beautiful daughters … and there’s a dog and two budgies. Four days a week I work in the office of a  local school, on my day off I present a German radio program at the local radio station. So much fun! I’ve published a few romance books and loving this little hobby of mine. Hope it shines through the words.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

Iris: I’ve just finished a book which is set partly in Melbourne, partly in New Zealand. I loved writing the story and re-visiting the places we went to when we travelled through NZ last year. But I also received my rights back for the first book of my Fermosa Bay trilogy and hope to finish the 3rd book soon. I love the main characters in the trilogy and I’m aiming to publish their stories soon as well.

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for either your current release or your current WIP?

Iris: The story is set in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, the most southern state in Australia. A most beautiful place. I went there a few years back and imagined how it would be to live in this city, how to adapt as a “non-local”, and bit by bit I wrote the story of two sisters moving there. Obviously, I added a little romance into the story as well – so I added Mark and Zach.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite snack that like to munch on while writing? If so would you mind sharing what it is with us?

Iris: Unfortunately, I’m intolerant to few food groups, but I’ve discovered (thanks to my husband’s cousin) sweet potato chips and I’m loving it + some zero coke = perfect for when I’m writing :)

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Iris: I’d love to:
“G’day, cupcake.”
Instinctively, she stood at the sound of his deep and cheerful voice, but froze just as quick. The instant pain was enough to take her breath away when she bumped her head into one of the beams of the roof. “Damnit!” A wave of nausea hit her because of the pain.
“Sophie!”
“Are you okay, Soph?”
Crouching down, she rubbed her head and groaned. Her knees almost buckled underneath, as her hands tried to find something to hold on to, only to find another person.
Jerking back, she let out a little shriek.
“Jesus, Soph. It’s me.”
“You gave me a fright.”
The beam of the torch lit up the corner across from her, and with her eyes still not adjusted to the semi-darkness yet, Sophie only could sense his presence right next to her via the warmth of his body and the soft sound of his breathing.
He adjusted the torch to lighten up the area they were crouching. Cupping her face, he asked. “Are you okay?”
“Do. I. Look. Okay?”
He choked back a laugh, which earned him a thump into his ribs.
She moved his hand and struggled to her feet. Swaying slightly, everything went blurry when she kneeled down.
“Shit.”
“What’s wrong,” he asked with concern.
“I think I’m going to faint.”

Crystal: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

Iris: I’m married with two children – they keep me busy. J Next to my part-time job, I present a German program at the local TV station every Wednesday. Heaps of fun.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite background noise you like to having going while you write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

Iris: No, I like complete silence when I write. I tried the music bit or a nice movie, but as soon as I have background noise, my mind wonders off. I’m obviously easily distracted.

Crystal:  Thanks for visiting. It has been a pleasure having you visit today. Can you think of anything else you would like to share with us today?

Iris: Thank you so much for having me on your blog today. Really enjoyed answering your questions. And if your readers would like to sign up for my newsletter, I often have free books (not only mine!) or recommendations.

The story is now a bit sexier and has also received another edit.
