The Bond

One of the things we love most about Shifters is their versatility. There are so many different ways to present these unique beings in a story. From the Were versus shifter angle to the various legends ingrained in different cultures. Just in our list of top ten shifter movies, in no particular order you can see that reflected. When we sat down to write we saw a couple who cared not only for one another, but their people as well. Approaching our shifter as an ancient group of beings who migrated from Africa to the United Stated in search of a new life and freedom we come into the story at a time of great change.
Like many immigrants there must be adaptation to survive. Sanura and Rafe’s people are clinging to the old ways no longer relevant or beneficial. As the daughter of the chief, Sanura’s deep love and understanding of what must happen to continue leads her on a dangerous path. Undercover she puts her life on the line to expose corruption and elect the rightful man to be the new chief, with the support of Rafe.
Our movie that we’d like to relate our shifter story to is one that involves two shifters a hawk and a wolf. The classic movie we’re talking about is Ladyhawke from 1985. The movie features Matthew Broderick as young thief Philipe Gastone, Rutger Hauer as Captain Etienne Navarre and Michelle Pfeiffer as Lady Isabeau d’Anjou. In this movie Philipe escapes from a dungeon where he is being held by the Bishop (John Wood). When Philipe meets Etienne and his beautiful hawk he learns about the curse. Together Philipe, Etienne and Isabeau must find a way to rid themselves of the Bishop and stop the curse.
Ladyhawke was a movie filled with action but it is also a very deep love story.
In the Bond our characters Sanura Bast and Rafael Cruz have a love that is just as undeniable. It’s not only the love they harbor for one another, but the deep abiding love that they have for their people. Together they will do anything to bring their puma pride into the Twentieth century and to stop their mutual enemy Logan Morrissey from claiming Sanura as his and taking over the pride. This is a story of love, action and deep passion for what is right.

Blurb:
Sanura Bast is willing to risk everything to keep her Pride of Pumas safe from Logan’s scheme to sell their land off to the highest bidder, including masquerading as his fiancée. After almost a year playing a role that disgusts her, she gets the intangible proof she’s been looking for. Desperate to end the charade, she turns to her ally, Rafael.
Banished for losing his control with a human, Rafael’s been looking for a way back to his Pride and to Sanura ever since. The woman set his blood on fire before she was old enough to accept what he wanted from her. Together they plot to stop Logan before he becomes chief, and now she has the proof they need to save her Pride. With that goal in sight, Rafael is ready to take what’s always been his and claim Sanura as his own.
