Rainbow Of Friendship by Joni Klein-Higger ~ illustrations by Eileen Goldenberg ~ REVIEW

Rainbow Of Friendship is completely adorable! I loved the concept of the story and the illustrations are beautiful. I think I have found another wonderful book for the children in your lives.

When little red girl goes on a walk she encounters children of many shapes and colors. At first she isn't sure it's OK to play with these children that look so different from her. The story is written in a nice tone that flows easy and makes for an entertaining read as little red girl discovers that everyone is the same on the inside even though they are so different on the outside. What a lovely lesson that many could learn from.

Joni Klein-Higger has done a wonderful job of writing a story that I think children are going to enjoy and learn from. The illustrations are done by Eileen Goldenberg. I have recently read another book that was written and illustrated by her. She does a fantastic job with  illustrations. The illustrations are creative, colorful and fun. I enjoyed them as I was reading the story so I am sure they are going to catch the eye of a child in your life.

I was given the opportunity to read this cute story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Rainbow of Friendship.

Review:

Pinkie McCloud 2I have found an adorable children's book for all the little kids in your life. Pinkie McCloud and How She Saved Ballooze is beautiful illustrated. The pictures are so cute and captivating.. They are also very colorful so I think the child in your life will enjoy turning the pages and looking at the pictures as they hear or read this wonderful story.

Pinkie McCloud and How she Saved Ballooze tells the story of Pinkie McCloud and her difficulties of being unique in a world where all the kids look alike. Pinkie is teased for being different than the other children in Ballooze and tries to hide her difference in order to fit in. Ms.Goldenberg has done a fabulous job with this story. She has taken a serious life issue and created a great story that will shows kids how wonderful it is when everyone of different shapes, colors,a and talents play and work together.

This book says it is for children ages 4 to 7. Honestly I think there are even older children and maybe even adults that could benefit from reading Pinkie's story. The pictures and story are done in a way to show a great lesson in a way that is fun and enjoyable.

I would highly recommend this book. It's such a cute story with great lesson and I can't forget all those beautiful illustrations I enjoyed looking at.

I was given the opportunity to read this great book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Pinkie McCloud and How She Saved Ballooze.

Review:

Relax-a-bye Baby is a nice bedtime story. I enjoyed the relaxing rhythm of each page. I liked the suggestion on stretching and letting your legs rest after a long day. I think this cute little bedtime story would be the perfect time story for a little one that is ready for bed and needs a little time to settle in to go to sleep.

Honestly I myself found it relaxing and would enjoy reading it again. The illustrations are cute and I think that little ones would enjoy looking at the pictures as they are settling down for the night.

I would highly recommend this story to anyone with little children. From a little baby on up. My Mom read to me from an early age and I love that there are so many cute books for little readers and pre-readers.

I was given the opportunity to read this cute little story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Relax-a-bye Baby.

EXCERPT:

Shadows danced across Maisy’s face in the dim light. Dramatic music filled her bedroom, and she reached for the popcorn bowl without moving her eyes from her little TV screen.  It was a tense moment in one of her favorite old mystery movies.  The villain was about to be caught.  Maisy knew that the detective would soon march out from a shadowy corner and catch the bad guy.  He would be wearing a long trench coat and a fedora hat.  He’d sound so impressive when he demanded that the villain, a sneaky looking robber named Vinny, turn himself in, that Vinny would have no choice but to give up.  But, Maisy was still on edge while she watched the scene unfold.

She was curled up with her favorite pup, Reesie, snuggled under the blanket beside her.  As soon as Maisy had turned off the lights and started the movie, the little dog had nudged the pillows with her nose to show that she wanted under the covers.  Maisy had complied with her request and tossed the pillows to the floor, so that she could scurry under the fluffy, purple comforter.  Now, Maisy reached over and patted the lump that was the tiny dog.

The movie wasn’t very scary.  After all, it was old and in black and white.  Movies like that were not scary at all compared to some movies made today.  But, still, Maisy loved the stories and detectives in the old movies so much that she couldn’t help but be drawn into them every time she watched one.  She felt a little better having her dog there with her.

Suddenly, the moment she had been anticipating was on the screen. The detective smoothly arrived on the scene and, after a little scuffle, took control.  Vinny gave in and put his hands up to show he would go quietly.  Maisy relaxed and munched the last bits of her popcorn. As she sighed in relief, a little nose popped out from under the purple covers.  It was soon followed by the sweet face of a little black and brown terrier-mix. One of her ears was flopped over, and she stretched her mouth wide in a huge yawn. Apparently, Maisy had disturbed Reesie’s slumber.  The pup crawled around and finally settled herself on Maisy’s lap.  She plopped her head down with a sigh and fell back asleep.  She didn’t even notice as Maisy shook her head and laughed.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
 Sands Hetherington Bio:

Sands Hetherington, creator of the Night Buddies series of chapter books, credits his son John for being his principal motivator. Sands and young John developed the Crosley crocodile character in the series during months of bedtime story give-and-take. They collaborated many nights on escapades starring John and Crosley, until eventually it occurred to Sands why it was that Crosley was bright red. That was when the first book came together.

Sands raised his son as a single parent from the time John was six. He read to him every night during those formative years: all of the classic children’s stories from Aesop through the Grimms, Lewis Carroll, Frank Baum, Tolkien and Dahl, with a lot of Dickens and Hugo thrown in. When school was out they got in the car and toured Alaska, Canada and most of the contiguous states. John still gets around. So far he has lived in Germany, Scotland, Russia, England and Spain.

Dogs have always been a part of the author’s life, beginning with Whiskers, a cocker spaniel. When his wonderful boxer Hube died, he despaired of finding a boxer who could match him, and instead got a Saint Bernard. He ended up breeding Saints for a number of years and at this point has had twelve as house pets. Sands says dogs can do you a power of good, and if you lose one, go out and get another the next day and you will be surprised at how fast your grief goes away.

Sands is also a Civil War buff. He would like to spend a month of evenings with common soldiers from both sides to see how they felt about the business. And eccentric generals like Jackson, Sherman and Forrest, and most of all Lincoln. Because Lincoln never gets to smile in his pictures.

The author was born in New York City but was transplanted a year later to Greensboro, North Carolina, where his maternal grandmother lived. He never really left the area and has a lot of the South in him. His grandmother was a prominent educator and became a great friend and mentor.

Sands majored in history at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and has an M.F.A. in creative writing and an M.A. in English from UNC-Greensboro. He lives in Greensboro now, and hangs out with his longtime friend Ann and their Saint Bernards Dudley and Maggie. He likes visiting ancient Mediterranean sites in Turkey and Italy, and most of all Greece.

Review:

I have been an avid reader since I was a child. I don't remember a time when I didn't love reading. It isn't often that I get a chance to read a book that takes me back to my childhood. Night Buddies Go Sky High is a fun adventure story that give you plenty of fuel your imagination.

Night Buddies Go Sky High  is a cute story with fun characters that made me laugh throughout the story. The plot is a fun adventure that I think will keep young readers intrigued. I think they will enjoy John and Crosley's adventure as much as I did.

If you are looking for a fun adventure story for your young reader I would recommend this humorous adventure story. I have not read the other books in the series however I have a feeling they are probably just as much fun as this one is.

The author has done a great job of describing the characters, the different places they visit, and the messes they get into. The pencil drawn illustrations are cute and help add to the storyline.

I was given the chance to read this cute young readers chapter book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Night Buddies Go Sky High.
