Ice Moon by Lisa Kessler ~ GIVEAWAY ~ INTERVIEW

Ice Moon

Interview:

Crystal: Today I am so pleased to host  Lisa Kessler. Welcome Lisa! I'm so excited to have you here today.  Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Lisa: Thanks for letting me visit! I love writing dark paranormal romance with high stakes, danger, and passion.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Lisa: Sure! I’m a sucker for first kisses, but Jared and Taryn’s first kiss was very unique…

She smiled, a bashful, real, breathtaking smile that warmed my entire body. I gripped the door tighter to keep from touching her and breaking the spell.

“Before you go…I need to ask. This is really awkward, and I’ll pay you for your time.” She cleared her throat. “It’s just for show, for my company.”

I raised a brow. “Sounds great so far.”

She rolled her eyes. “My firm sponsors the annual Masquerade Ball here in Tahoe every year, and this time I promised my new community relations manager I would go.”

She stared up at me like she expected me to say something. Problem was, I had no clue what she was talking about.

“And you need me to…build a stage or…?”

Color flushed her chest. I could almost feel the heat on my skin.

“No, I need you to be my date.” I struggled to keep my jaw off the floor while she backpedaled.
“Not like a real date. It’s just that tickets are sold per couple, so I can’t go alone, and I don’t want to involve Charlie. I wouldn’t ask, but you probably guessed I don’t really hang out with people. There’s no one else for me to ask. We wouldn’t have to stay long and you’ll be paid for the time…”

“Yes.” Without thinking, I placed my finger over her lips to quiet her and be sure she heard me. My heart stuttered the instant I touched her skin, and deep inside of me, my wolf howled. The lights brightened as my pupils dilated and contracted. I blinked hard and shook my head. What the hell… “Don’t pay me. I’ll go because I want to, not because it’ll help your business.”

I dropped my hand, half expecting her to slap me, but she didn’t move away. A fine line creased between her eyebrows. “Are you all right?”

That definitely depended on her definition.

From the depths of my soul, my wolf recognized her. Taryn was my mate. Mine. This cool, distant woman, with another wolf’s child. And yet, maybe I’d sensed it before. Maybe that was why I took this job up the goddamn Mt. Rose highway just as winter was coming in. Had I been drawn to her and her little boy?

I stared down into her eyes, my voice barely a whisper. “If I stay here any longer, I’m not going to be able to stop myself from kissing you.”

Her throat bobbed as she swallowed, but she didn’t back away. Her blue eyes searched mine. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You won’t.” I closed the distance between us, my lips claiming hers. Light burst behind my eyelids as I carefully slid my arms around her. Her body was warm right through my clothes, and while her kiss started out tentative, gradually she returned my caresses and her hands glided up over my chest, until I smoldered to have her even closer.

Suddenly, she pushed me away. I let her go, struggling to catch my breath. Her eyes welled with tears. Shit. Had I scared her somehow?

She shook her head. “This was a bad idea.”

“Nothing about that was bad.”

Her fingers trembled at her sides. Without my heightened sense of hearing, I never would have been able to make out her words. “Look at your shirt.”

I tipped my head down and frowned. There were two brown streaks on the front of my shirt, like I’d left an iron on it too long. The heat I’d imagined from her touch hadn’t been in my imagination.

“This is why you don’t like to be touched.”

She didn’t acknowledge me, just took another step away. “I’m sorry, Jared. I can’t explain, just…just go.”

I glanced down the hall. “That’s why you keep your distance with Charlie.”

“Walk away, Jared.”

I shook my head. “I’m not afraid.”

Her eyes narrowed. “You should be.”

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for either your current release or your current WIP?

Lisa: I actually took another trip to Reno, Nevada before I wrote BLOOD MOON (Book 3) and during that trip, on our first try to drive up the Mt. Rose Highway to Lake Tahoe, it started to snow, and snow, and finally I could barely see the road, there were avalanche area signs and flashing snow chain signs. Ack! I white-knuckled it and finally found a place to turn around and a sheriff to follow back down the mountain. It was a crazy blizzard with no warning and when we got off the mountain I kissed the ground and told my husband “This experience is going in ICE MOON.” And something similar did come into the book… Yeek!

Crystal: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

Lisa: I still sing professionally so when I’m not writing, I’m practicing or buying new sheet music and learning new songs. I also got a ROKU for my TV so I’m not a late night binge watcher after my writing is done. Some of my favorite shows are: Teen Wolf, Bones, Defiance, Bitten, Hemlock Grove, Reign, and Once Upon a Time!

Crystal: Thanks for visiting. It has been a pleasure having you visit today. Can you think of anything else you would like to share with us today?

LisaI’d love to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my books. I work really hard writing these characters, but it’s you guys, the readers, who fill them with life. Without you they’re words on a page. It’s not a story until someone reads it.
I appreciate every single one of you!

HARVEST MOON by Lisa Kessler ~ Release Day Blitz

It’s finally here! I am so excited to be celebrating the release of HARVEST MOON by Lisa Kessler! Please join in on the celebration today over on Facebook.

About HARVEST MOON:

Dr. Jason Ayers unleashes all of his rage and his frustration through fists and brute force in an underground boxing ring. The werewolf may be the pack’s doctor, but he can’t even heal his coma-stricken father after the Nero Organization’s attack stopped his heart. And as his Pack brothers settle down around him, he still refuses to believe in the fairy tale notion that every wolf has a true mate...
In hiding and on the run, nurse Kilani Akamu is a loose end that Nero is desperate to tie up. She can't afford to be attracted to a doctor—especially one as unexpectedly hot and complex as Jason. Yet the sexual sparks arcing between them are undeniable...and Kilani's precognitive senses warn her that temptation is inevitable.
All it takes is one touch to send Jason's wolf howling. But even if he could protect her from Nero, he can't protect her from himself…

Excerpt:

We walked down to the water. The cool water rushed around our ankles and a giggle bubbled up from my throat. “Oh, it’s colder than I remember.”
“You probably splashed around during the day.”
I nodded. “I used to collect sand dollars with my mom. She’d tell me stories about how mermaids used them for money.”
“This must have been a great place to grow up.”
“Yeah. For a while it was…” The moonlight sparkled on the water, and for the first time, I realized thinking about my mom hadn’t made me angry.
Another wave came in hard, splashing up our pant legs. Jason jumped back, laughing. “Shit. That one surprised me.”
Behind us, the band broke into a cover of “Hungry Like the Wolf.” I smiled up at mine. He was sexy even in soaking-wet blue jeans. “Dance with me.”
He chuckled, glancing down the beach. “I’m not much of a dancer.”
“You can’t listen to this song and not move to the beat.” I let my hips sway to the pulsing drumbeat as I took his hand. “There’s no one out here to see. Just feel it.”
He rolled his eyes but gradually started to move with me. The waves crashed and raced toward us, but I barely noticed. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Jason. Once he got over being self-conscious, he could move. I danced around him slowly, enjoying the hunger in his gaze.
As the band finished and started a new song, Jason pulled me close, my breasts pressed tight to his chest. “This wolf is very hungry.”
I ran my hands up his chest. “Dancing can tell you a lot about a person.”
He raised a brow. “I’m afraid of what I just told you.”
I laughed as another wave drenched us. “You like to be in control, but the second you allowed your body to respond to the beat, your instincts took over and you danced. You surrendered.” Kissing his chest, I whispered, “You have an artist’s passion trapped inside your analytical mind.”
Jason lifted me up, and I wrapped my legs around his waist. His forehead rested against mine. “I’ve never liked dancing.” He started to sway with the music and the tide, turning us slowly. “But maybe I just never had the right partner.”
His lips claimed mine as the waves broke around us. My pulse raced, my body warmed, and gradually he broke the kiss. “You make me feel invincible.”
But he wasn’t invincible. None of us were, and my vision of him bleeding from a gunshot wound was never far from my consciousness.
