#Spotlight ~ Shadowed Blade By J.C. Daniels

Shadowed Blade
Colbana Files Book 6
By J.C. Daniels

Something wicked this way comes…

The arrival of a very important person in her office seemed to be the start of a lot of problems for Kit Colbana, investigator extraordinaire.  Claiming that he needed somebody with her special skillset, he sends her on a series of jobs that made little to no sense until one culminated with both her and her partner, Justin barely escaping with their lives.
Back in Orlando, they go their separate ways to recover, Justin heading to the house of a local witch, while Kit returns to the Lair, where she’s recently been living with her lover Damon, the Alpha of the Southern Cat Clans.
There’s barely a chance for Kit to catch her breath before trouble of the highest order comes knocking on her door. This time, it’s the form of a psychic by the name of Nova.  Nova has bad, bad news…Justin has gone missing and so has the witch who was going to put him up while he healed. Colleen, one of Kit’s closest, dearest friends.
With all sorts of non-humans disappearing, fury doesn’t even touch what Kit is feeling as she heads out to hunt down the people responsible.
But Kit isn’t the only one out on a hunt…somebody is hunting for her…somebody Kit would rather never, ever see again.

Review:

Misery's Way is a lovely introduction to a great in character set in Kit Colbana's world. Frankie is a natural healer that feeds on the misery and healing of others. I have to say there are times in my life when I'd love to meet Frankie. I think it would be interesting to get to know her and watch her help people.

For those of us that have read some of the Colbana Files books it was really nice to get a quick visit with Kit and Justin.  If you haven't read any of the books in the Colbana Files and you enjoy Urban Fantasy stories or paranormal stories you really should check out this series. Of course I don't think it matters what genre this author writes, it's always a great read.

This is a really quick, short read by the talented J.C. Daniels. I read this in one setting and it left me wanting more, lots more! When I reached the end of the story my only thought was WOW!  I hope this is just the start of getting to know Frankie and her companion Saleel.  I loved these new characters and I really think I could quickly bond with them.

I was given the opportunity to read Misery's Way so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you on this great story.

Edged Blade by J.C. Daniels ~ Colbana Files #4 ~ REVIEW

Edged Blade is the only the second book I have read in the Colbana Files series. The other book I have read was Bladed Magic ,a novella. It gave me a nice taste of this series but wow Edged Blade increased my appetite and I can't wait to read more of this great series.

Kit Colbana is my kind of gal. This girl can get just about anything done and kick the bad guy or gal's rear end while she is solving the problem. If I was in a dangerous situation this is one woman I would want on my side and I sure wouldn't want to make her mad. If you can not tell I quickly grew fond of Kit and admired her for what all she has been through and all the issues she has been able to overcome.

Damon has been patient and supportive of Kit while she takes her time to heal and recover from the horrible events that happened. I haven't read the whole series so I don't know all the details but Kit was through some very traumatic events in the last year. How could I not love the fact that Damon has been patiently waiting for Kit to give the go ahead to resume their relationship. While he's waiting he is also watchful of Kit to try to take care of her as well. He has some very powerful people under him that try to know what Kit is up to in order to be of help. Kit doesn't always want or need the assistance but when she does Damon and his crew are there ready and willing to kick butt and ask questions later.

Justin is Kit's best friend and former lover. These two have a very deep and close friendship and would do anything to help the other. They also work together a lot to solve mysteries of NH world. In Edged Blade there is some really bad things happening and people missing. They set out to find out what's going on, why, and who is responsible. I don't want to tell you too much because you are going to want to read this great story to see what happens for yourself.

There is a LOT of drama, suspense, some sweet romance along with  some steam, a strong sense of friendship and a few frenemy relationships that are interesting to watch. Overall this is one really great story that I could not put down. About the time I thought I knew what was going to happen next J.C. Daniels would throw another twist into the situation and I was once again spellbound.

I have read this talented authors work in other genres and I always love her work. She is quite talented and I should not be surprised by her unbelievable talent anymore, but I am! This talented lady has a way with creating interesting characters that are very complex. The story lines she writes are so dramatic, and full of suspense with so many twist and turns that I can not help but want to keep reading to see what is going too happen on the next page, then the next, and well the next. You know the story, just one more page that turns into half a book later.

If you have read the other the books in the Colbana files then you are gong to want to grab this book now! If you haven't read the other books but enjoy a great Urban Fantasy story, pick up one of these books. I haven't read the whole series and I am missing a few things but not enough to take away from the enjoyment of the story. I would love to read the rest of the series but I didn't have any problem reading this as a stand alone book.

I can not wait to see what happens in the next book. I know there is more to this story and of course I'm sure there is more to happen. Ms. Daniels is so creative I'm sure Kit is in for more adventure.

I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Edged Blade

Edged Blade By J. C. Daniels ~ Interview ~ Giveaway

Edged Blade

By J. C. Daniels

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Interview:

Crystal: I am so excited to have the opportunity to ask J.C. Daniels a few questions. Welcome J.C.! I'm so honored to have you here today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

J.C. : I read a lot of books, I write a lot of books, I take a lot of pictures.  Longer version?  I'm thirty eight.  I'm married to my high school sweetheart and we've got three kids.  I've been writing since I was a kid.  I've been told I'm kind of odd.  I take it as a compliment.

Crystal: Do you have any special routine that you follow when you are writing?

J.C.Routine implies some sort of organization...I lack that skill.

Crystal: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

J.C.I love to read.  I love to take pictures.  I love to drive my family crazy.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite background noise you like to listen to while you write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

J.C.The best thing is music--and preferably nobody in the house.  Otherwise, I have a hard time focusing.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

He laughed and dropped down on my bed.
I frowned.
He lifted a brow. “Problem?”
“Damon’s coming over tonight.”
Now Justin grinned and laid back on the bed, linking his hands together behind his head and stretching out.
Sighing, I rubbed the back of my neck.
“Are you trying to make me hurt you?” I asked. “Because trust me, I’m frustrated enough to do you a lot of damage.”
Frustrated didn’t touch it.
My plans of inviting Damon back home after the Halloween Ball had fallen through and he’d spent the next few days dealing with some sort of clan politics. It turned out that the clan in northern Georgiaseriously had business—the kind that came with a major B that needed to be discussed with the Assembly and now that Matthew wasn’t allowed in the area, they were fumbling to come up with a plausible arrangement, because Amund wasn’t rescinding the ban. And nobody could make the millennia-old vampire rescind it.
All of it made my head spin. If I thought about it too long, I’d have a migraine. All I wanted was one night with my guy. One night.
Then, just when I was thinking I’d go join him at the Lair, I got the call from Nova.
It had taken almost a week of running leads down before I’d managed to find the woman Nova had seen in his vision and I almost hadn’t made it in time.
I hadn’t seen Damon in nearly two weeks.
I hadn’t had sex in so long, I didn’t even want to think about it.
And Justin was doing one thing guaranteed to make Damon’s brain shut down.
“You know, this is what happens when you hook up with a shifter, Kit,” Justin said, pushing up onto his elbows. His black T-shirt rode up, baring his flat belly. “The animal kicks in too easily, shuts down the brain. Now, me? If we were still together, I wouldn’t be all that worried if your bedroom smelled like another man.”
“That’s because you can’t scent another man in my bedroom, you asshole.”
He shrugged. Crossing his feet at the ankle, he said, “He knows we’re done. I just—hey!”
Justin glared at me from the floor.
I let go of his ankles and smiled.

Bladed Magic (Colbana Files 0.6) by J.C. Daniels ~ Review

I have read a few books by this very talented author lately and enjoyed them all immensely. I had not had the pleasure of reading any books in The Colbana Files Series, however after reading Bladed Magic, I know I must read more.

I found this book to be the start of a series that sounds really intriguing and certainly something I want to read more of. This Novella gave me a good taste and left me wanting more of the series.

I found the characters to be fascinating and interesting to get to know. I instantly liked Kit Colbana and her attitude. I loved that she has some interesting talents. When she meets Justin she isn't quite sure they are going to work well together. They rub each other the wrong way to start with but it turns out they really do work quite well together.

This is a great short story that has captured my attention in the series. I read this book in one setting, I was too captivated to set it down. I know I will certainly be looking forward to reading more in this interesting series.

I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Bladed Magic
