#Review ~ Outfox by Sandra Brown ~ @SandraBrown_NYT

My Review:

Outfox by [Brown, Sandra]I have been a huge Sandra Brown fan for a long time. She has such an incredible talent with storylines and characters that I always find myself engrossed in her books from the very first page. Outfox was certainly not an exception to the rule.

Drex Easton has been hot on the trail of the man that killed his mother many years ago. He is determined not only to get justice for the death of his mother and to fulfill a dying promise to his father but also to save this mad man's current victim.

Talia Shafer lost her parents at a fairly young age and took over their company. She made it so successful she sold it for a fortune and then started catering to "private" clients. Her money just may have gained her the attention of a psycho that is after women with money. Jasper Ford is a very slick, well dressed, charming man that just might have a whole slew of secrets buried in his past. If Drex is correct then this man is dangerous and needs to be stopped in any way possible.

I have to say there are so many twists and turns in this story that I was held captive and turning pages just as quickly as possible. Just about the time, I thought that Drex may have things under control and might be about to catch the dangerous killer before he can kill again, then something would happen and I'd be tossed right back into the nail-biting, breath-holding, heart-pounding mode again. The suspense and drama in this story are so intense and well written that the pages flew by. The characters are great. I know I would want to have Drex and his guys in my corner if I was in trouble. These guys are good! They souces to use and they know how to use them to get the information that they need when they need it. They also protect their own with all they have.

The relationship between Drex and Talia is deep, strong and intense. They fight their feelings and attraction from each other by bickering and disagreeing a lot at times. Talia just may be in danger from a man that has promised to love an honor her. It has certainly put her in an interesting position and Drex's feelings for Talia, the wife of the man that just might be his number one suspect put him in an awkward position. I did enjoy watching these characters get to know each other through some incredibly dangerous situations. There are secrets that are revealed that certainly does put a strain on their friendship and on what may grow into more than a friendship.

On the whole, I truly recommend this book to my fellow Sandra Brown fans. If you are a romantic suspense fan but have not had a chance to read a Sandra Brown book before then grab this one now. Honestly, I don't think you will be disappointed. I was engrossed in this book from the first pages all the way to the end and the twists and turns make it one incredible read. Be ready for an intense read and enjoy.

I was given the opportunity to read this incredible story and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

About Outfox:

Outfox by [Brown, Sandra]#1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown combines heart-stopping suspense and forbidden passion in this psychological thriller about an FBI agent's hunt for a ruthless conman turned serial killer
FBI agent Drex Easton is relentlessly driven by a single goal: to outmaneuver the conman once known as Weston Graham. Over the past thirty years, Weston has assumed many names and countless disguises, enabling him to lure eight wealthy women out of their fortunes before they disappeared without a trace, their families left without answers and the authorities without clues. The only common trait among the victims: a new man in their life who also vanished, leaving behind no evidence of his existence . . . except for one signature custom.

Drex is convinced that these women have been murdered, and that the man he knows as Weston Graham is the sociopath responsible. But each time Drex gets close to catching him, Weston trades one persona for another and disappears again. Now, for the first time in their long game of cat and mouse, Drex has a suspect in sight.

Attractive and charming, Jasper Ford is recently married to a successful businesswoman many years his junior, Talia Shafer. Drex insinuates himself into their lives, posing as a new neighbor and setting up surveillance on their house. The closer he gets to the couple, the more convinced he becomes that Jasper is the clever, merciless predator he's sought--and that his own attraction to Talia threatens to compromise his purpose and integrity.

This is Drex's one chance to outfox his cunning nemesis before he murders again and eludes justice forever. But first he must determine if the desirable Talia is a heartless accomplice . . . or the next victim.

Excerpt from Future, Betrayed:

Dain gave her a mock salute, and a second later, the comm-vid shut off. Ben moved forward and wrapped his arms around his husband.
“Wow, that was an intense back and forth.”
Dain turned in his embrace and pulled Ben in close. “That’s nothing to how it’s going to be tomorrow. You up for this?”
“I’ve got your back.”
He leaned in again for another kiss, just as the front door opened and Ranger walked in.
“Oops! Sorry, guys,” Ranger said.
“No worries,” Ben said with a sigh as he and Dain broke apart. “What are you doing home so early?”
“Coworkers heard about Nate winning the lottery. They kept interrupting my work to ask questions, so the bosses told me to go home early. Nate here?”
Ben shook his head. “No. We were just discussing Dain’s win.”
Ranger shook his head in disbelief. “Unreal how two from this family won the damn thing, isn’t it?”
“Yeah,” Dain muttered. “Unreal.”
“You planning on going in to test?” Ranger asked.
“Kinda have to, don’t I? I mean, that’s part of the fine print no one reads.”
Ranger frowned. “I thought, ultimately, you get to say a final no if you change your mind.”
Dain shook his head. “No one gets away from Sector. It’s something to consider as you and Nate go forward. Well, I’m going to head to bed. Have a good night.”
Ranger nodded, still looking thoughtful. Dain took Ben’s hand and led him to their small bedroom. Once ensconced in their own world, they could stay hidden for the rest of the night. Just the two of them, and Ben had a horrible feeling that this was probably the last time they would have a moment to themselves. Tomorrow he and Dain would go to Sector to step into the farce of winning the damn lottery. He sat down heavily as the weight of it washed over him.
“Are you okay?” Dain asked softly, sitting next to him on the bed.
“Everything is going to change, isn’t it?”
Dain nodded. “Yeah. I got out of the New Force Order Police because I disagreed with Sector’s policies. Now I’m going back, and I hate the reason why. But I’ve been thinking this might the one chance to bring Sector’s crimes to light.”
Ben’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean?”
“If I can obtain evidence of their lottery manipulation, it might get us out this. And get us away from Sector.”
“You’re talking about spying.”
“I’ve done worse for the NFOP,” Dain reminded him. “How hard can it be to expose their overreach? Perhaps if I can find the evidence it might open up a negotiation for checks and balances. Omnipotent power is never a good thing for a rule of law.”
Ben sighed. “I don’t want you to put yourself in danger.”
“I already did that when I went into that damn bar.” He shook his head. “We may not have wanted this, but here we are. I need to know you’re okay with my plan.”
“Okay with it? Not really. But when we decided to say vows we included the lines for better or worse. No matter what, I’m with you. But no more secrets between us. Okay?”

Dain nodded. “Agreed. No more secrets.”

#Review ~ The Me I Used to Be by Jennifer Ryan ~ @JenRyan_author @avonbooks

My Review:

The Me I Used to Be: A Novel by [Ryan, Jennifer]I became a Jennifer Ryan fan from the very first book I read. She has such a fantastic writing style that truly catches my attention from the very first page and holds me spellbound until the very end. Trust me when I say The Me I Used To Be is certainly not an exception. I enjoyed this book so much.

Evangeline Austen has been serving time in prison for a crime she did not commit. She has held on to a secret about what she knows and has not revealed any of those details to anyone, including her family. She is granted parole after the officer that arrested her arrives at her parole hearing with the news that her father has passed away. That is just the beginning of the drama for Evangeline.

I bonded so quickly with Evangeline. I liked her spunk, her caring, her willingness to do what needs to be done so she can get her life turned around, and the way she protects her family to the best of her ability even when they don't understand why or how she is protecting them and doing her darndest to get them everything they want and need to happy and secure in the feature. The lady has so many issues going on and none of them are of her doing. She is one kick-butt lady that has a good head for business and a deep love for her family even if they are a bit cold to her in the beginning.

Evangeline and Chris Chambers start out with a bit of a rocky relationship. She's so hurt that he was the one that arrested her for a crime she didn't commit. He does his best to help her with what she has to do and help her to stay safe. There is a deep attraction between these two that has been smoldering for a while. Chris is one of those good guys that just wants to help the woman he has had feelings for that have been simmering for so long.

I loved watching Chris and Evangeline work through the issues from the past and find that there is a friendship there that is just as deep and strong as their attraction. They work well together and get things taken care of. I won't tell you more about that. You are going to want to read the suspense and drama for yourself. I know I was kept captivated by the story, the drama, and threat of danger. Ms. Ryan wrote an incredible story with plenty of suspense and drama to keep this reader glued to her seat flipping pages as quickly as possible.

I just completely loved this story. I loved Evangeline and Chris, I loved Evangeline working through the dramas from her past and her caring way of digging in to help keep the family Ranch running and running smoothly. This lady has it all going on she's sweet, kind, caring, strong, independent and just a touch of vindictive when she wants justice. Her time in prison was not easy. She suffered many many hard times and danger. She wants justice and she is willing to put herself in harm's way to get it. Thank goodness she has Chris to be her backup.

If you are looking for a fabulous book that is going to keep you glued to your seat, holding your breath, laughing, and crying then you have to grab The Me I Used to Be. If you are already a Jennifer Ryan fan like I am, you are going to love this book. If you haven't read a Jennifer Ryan novel and are looking for a really good romantic suspense with plenty of heartfelt drama, family issues, romance, mystery, and just one really darn good story then grab this one. I know you are not going to be disappointed. I know I sure wasn't.

I was given the opportunity to read this incredible book and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.
