Sean's Sweetheart by Allie Kincheloe ~ Review ~

Sean's Sweetheart is one of those books that I started and could not put down. This book is so captivating that I finished it in one setting. I could not wait to see what was going to happen next.

Talia is one of those characters that I found an instant connection with. At the beginning of the book she is not in a good relationship. She is abused by her boyfriend and has distanced herself from almost everyone. When things get really rough thankfully Sean is there to step in.

Sean is one of those guys that you can not help but fall in love with. This guy is sweet, kind , caring, and will kick someone rear end if he sees something happening that he does not like. I loved how without meaning to and honestly sometimes wanting to stay out of it, he ends up stepping up to save the day. He is truly Talia's white knight. Even though he sure doesn't want to be. He doesn't want to get involved with anyone at all. He sure isn't looking for a relationship with a young lady like Talia.

Not only did I really enjoy this book. There is such a great base for the storyline, there is a lot of drama, some family drama, and I think a really nice message in this book.

I think every young woman or even every woman should read this book. I think they would get a great message out from Talia and her situation with her ex-boyfriend. Allie Kincheloe has done a great job of showing what a relationship should NOT look like as well as a sweet and loving relationship that EVERY woman deserves to be in.

I could go on and on about this book. I just really enjoyed the storyline. Talia and Sean had to go through so many obstacles in order to be together. I laughed and cried so many times during this book. I had tears for both of them wondering how they were going to work out all their problems to be able to share their lives together. Sean's Sweetheart is truly just a really great book that I just adored.

I loved the characters, the storyline, the messages that I felt through the book. I would so highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a sweet story that is full of drama.

Allie Kincheloe has a great talent for telling a wonderful story. I would not hesitate to read more by her in the future. In fact I think I would jump at the chance to read more.

I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Sean's Sweetheart

Crystal: Today I pleased to host LaToya Gay. Welcome LaToya! I'm so happy to have you here today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

LaToya: My name is LaToya Gay and I am a 31 year old wife of almost 7 years to my best friend and biggest supporter Joseph and mother of 4 beautiful children. I grew up in Caroline County, VA and now reside in Henrico, VA. Being the oldest of two and having went through many heart aches and setbacks in life, I have gained confidence within myself and now have released all of the pain from my past in order to help other young ladies heal and learn how to let go and let God.
I am the founder of VirtuallyNSync, LLC which was a business that helped women find legit work from home and published my first book “Who Says You Can’t Work From Home?” in February 2012. During this time of my business I realized that God has so much in store for me and my family. A passion was ignited and I was desiring to do more within God’s Kingdom. As of February, and through much prayer, I decided to shut down that part of my business to chase and accept my gift of ministry and mentoring young ladies under 30 who guidance and help understanding their worth.
I am very passionate about helping young women push through their doubts and chase after their dreams by accepting the purpose for their life and realizing that they were created to stand out from the crowd and live life differently. I have been featured in an interview with Tamyka Washington of Marketing her Way, Nominated for “Woman of the Year” with WERock Awards, Nominated for “Leading mom in business” with StartUpNation and featured in an interview with Leslie Truex of Work at Home Success.
I am on fire for Christ and as a licensed and ordained minister, have made it my personal mission to help young women Be, Live and Do Life Differently while making a Kingdom Impact.   In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, singing and whatever the future holds for us.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

LaToya: My favorite scene would be on a quiet beach with my family with a pencil and notepad and journaling the life that I am blessed to live.

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for Born 2 Be Different?

LaToya: God gave me the idea behind this book and instructed me to write from my heart so that the lives of other young ladies will be impacted and those who are non-believers will understand their worth in Christ.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

LaToya: I am currently working publishing the first book of my Born2BeDifferent book series along my husband who is currently work on the male version of the second book of this 4 part book series that will publish in May 2015
Crystal: Do you have any special routine that you follow when you are writing?

LaToya: I pray first, gather my thoughts and then allow God to lead in what to write.

Crystal: Did you have to do a lot of research this book or any other?

LaToya: It was not much research, it was more prayer and allowing God to lead me in who needed to be a part of this book and the marketing plan he wanted me to follow in order to experience success.

Crystal: Who are some of your favorite authors that you like to read?

LaToya: I love reading Christian Non Fiction and Fiction. I do not have any particular authors other than T.D Jakes
Crystal: Is there a genre you haven't written that you would like to try?

INK & IRON: OBSESSION by Eden Bradley ~ Release Day Blitz

INK & IRON: OBSESSION
Ink & Iron, Book 1
By Eden Bradley

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
BLURB::

He could have it all… but all he wants is her.

During his soaring career as the lead singer of indie-rock band Ink & Iron, Cole Kennrick has been through it all: sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Overindulging until he lost what mattered most.

Now he’s pulled his life together and left his addictions behind, except for one: his ex-wife, Janie. If only he can convince her their love was—still is—the real thing.

In the seven years since their divorce, Janie has kept tabs on the only man she’s ever truly loved. The one she had to leave in order to save herself. Still, dark and often kinky desires they explored together linger in her dreams and fantasies.

Janie has seen up close and way-too-personal that rock stars are bad, bad medicine. But when Cole shows up at her yoga studio, clean and sober, his leather-and-motorcycles scent teasing her senses, it’s way too tempting to slip right back into the one place she swore she’d never risk again—his arms.

Excerpt

Squirming, she pushed away from him, fighting down the emotion that wanted to overwhelm her.
“I can’t go there, Cole. I don’t want to talk about my fears with you. Or being your girl. Or my fucking hair, for God’s sake! This is…ridiculous. Impossible.”
But the sheer masculine beauty of his face—a face thousands of women would have killed to be close to—and the sincerity of his tone were getting to her. That, and the pure chemistry that still sizzled and snapped in the air between them like static electricity before a storm.
The past was the past. Wasn’t it? How was it possible that she still responded to him like this? She couldn’t seem to think straight.
“Have dinner with me tonight. We can talk.”
Her mind spun with images of them together in the darkness, with nothing but the light of the moon shining on their naked bodies through the windows of their old house in Venice Beach… Those images drove the other ones away, and she wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or if it was bad, but this certainly felt better. “Tonight?” she asked uncertainly.
“Seven o’clock. I’ll pick you up wherever you tell me to. Here. Your home.” An air of command in his voice even while he was giving her options. How did he do that?
“I didn’t say I was going.”
He smiled, a devastating flash of strong white teeth. “You didn’t say you weren’t.”
“Damn it, Cole,” she muttered, crossing her arms over her chest. She wanted to say no, but oh, the storm was coming.
He let out a low chuckle. “Still have to be a little mouthy before you give in. But you know I’ve always liked that about you.”
Oh, they were so not getting into the whole power exchange thing. She’d be lost.
“I can still say no.”
He only smiled, making her want him to kiss her again. And again. And damn it, he had her. For dinner, anyway.
She shook her head. “Okay. Okay. But I’ll meet you. Just tell me where.”
“Come on, Janie girl. You know I’m more of a gentleman than that. There is no way I’m not picking you up.”
She blew out a breath, dropped her arms and turned to grab a pen and a green sticky note from her teak desk. “This is my address.”
He glanced at the note. “Los Feliz. Cool, funky neighborhood. You close to Griffith Park?”
“Yes.”
“Nice.”
She raised her chin a few notches. “Yes. It is.”
He leaned in until she could feel his breath warm on her cheek, his voice low. “I understand you being defensive, finding it hard to trust even having a simple conversation with me. I get it, baby. But just for tonight, for what we had between us once, I need you to find a way to let me in. A little, at least.”
She nodded, unable to speak, his scent going through her like a live wire.
It had always been like this. He’d always had this effect on her—rendering her speechless simply by standing close to her. His touch was absolutely devastating. And his scent… God, no man had a right to smell that good.
Another shiver ran through her as she breathed him in. She would see him. She would be open to talking. But she would not let him make her head spin like the teenager who had fallen so hopelessly in love with him.
That’s a lie. You’ve never been able to resist him.
She wished it weren’t true. But that was the main reason she’d never faced him once the divorce papers were signed. Because she knew if she spent ten minutes alone with him—even after the drug and alcohol abuse, even after the nights she’d spent alone wondering where the hell he was, having him come home staggering at six in the morning—turning away from him would be impossible. She wasn’t sure she could do it again.
She was an idiot.
She nodded. “Seven o’clock.”

Excerpt:

Following her nose through the front door, she was thrust into a honky-tonk time warp.
Bars like this one didn’t exist in Los Angeles. The Den was cozy enough but appeared to have been decorated by a taxidermist in the late seventies and zealously preserved since. The shaggy heads of several unfortunate buffalo dominated the far wall. At the front door, two stuffed raccoons offered a mock greeting with outstretched paws. The chairs, booths, and even a few of the tables were covered in forest green vinyl. No doubt a sticky misery to come in contact with on a hot day.
Movement caught her eye. A burly man with an inscrutable expression rose from behind a counter as if he was part of a magic act. He was tall with a barrel chest. A
nappy brown sweater coupled with hunched posture lent him a distinctly bearlike
appearance.
The dour gentleman focused on Sela with a frown. “Where did you come from?”
Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” was cranked to eleven. She had to shout to be heard, “Can I order some food to go?”
The saggy-faced Papa bear behind the counter appeared perturbed. “Fair warning,
miss. The kitchen’s closed. Pretty sure we don’t have what you want.”
The explosive clack of a pool cue making hard contact with a ball nearly drowned
her out. “Except for you, everything’s closed in this town!”
A few customers cast her a brief glance then looked away. The lucky bastards sat
in front of pitchers of cold beer, towering hamburgers, paired with heaps of
french fries or onion rings. Her stomach growled embarrassingly loud, but she
doubted anyone could hear above the blaring music. “Something smells heavenly.
Could I at least order onion rings to go?”
Bear man shook his head. “Sorry. No can do. Fryer’s turned off.”
“Really?”
Digging through her purse, she wondered if this place would accept a credit
card. “I’m willing to pay a little extra for the trouble.”
With a sullen pout, he rubbed a limp rag across the countertop. “After hours The Den
ain’t open to the general public. Guess what? It’s after hours.”
“Oh, come on!” She sounded desperate.
A man in a red plaid shirt, who appeared to be in his mid-thirties, sat at the counter. He shot her a smoldering look filled with mixed emotions. Perhaps he was angry or lost in thought. She couldn’t tell. The flash of fire in his eyes beneath brooding black brows was impossible to decipher. When he opened his mouth, the tough gravel voice of a drill sergeant rumbled out. “Gee, don’t be a hard ass. Get the lady some onion rings.”
The lumbering hairy thing behind the counter, presumably named Gee, thrust out his
bottom lip and lifted his hands into the air in mock surrender. “Why not? It’s not like my house rules ever get any respect anyway.”
From the corner of her eye, Sela glimpsed a huge silver-furred canine dart from
under a table, push a swinging door open with its muzzle, and disappear.
“Did I just see a wolf?” Sela gasped.

The Social Club
by John Crusey

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It's said that a little knowledge can be dangerous. If that knowledge is about the Social Club it can be deadly. That's what 70-year-old, Mack McCormick learns when he stumbles onto the biggest story of his career as a newspaperman. Will he live to see it printed? The odds are against him.

Excerpt:

“Yeah, that guy who was hit by the train the other morning – apparently it was no accident, the sheriff’s office is trying to figure if it was a suicide or murder.  And to top it off, somebody burned the guy’s house down last night.”
“Shit!” Will snorts and shakes his head, then remembers something else, and gets out of his chair, walking over to Mack,  “Hey, you want to see another local tragedy?” the young reporter asks, picking the newspaper up off of the table and opening it to page two, where the obituaries are always printed.  Handing the paper back, Will is pointing at the picture of a beautiful young woman.  “Look at this.”
Mack reads, “Betsy Fullenkamp, age 19 died at the home of her parents Saturday evening…”  “Nineteen?  Was she sick?” Mack asks.
“No, the police are definitely calling that one a suicide.  She hung herself.  Her mom found her in the basement swinging from the end of a clothesline.  The other end was tied around a sewer line.  Apparently she kicked a little stool out from under her.  They said her feet were less than six inches off the floor.”
“Damn.”
“I knew her,” Will says.  “They live less than a block from me.  Most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, and a personality to match.  Bubbly and outgoing, she would have done anything for anybody.  Brains too, graduated at the top of her class last year, and was always on the dean’s list down at Miami, in Oxford.  So much going for her, and she throws it all away.  She had it all.”

Betsy doesn’t say another word getting out of the car.  When she closes the rear door, the men drive away, leaving her standing in the parking lot, alone.  I can’t tell anyone what happened.  Who would believe me?  Who can I even trust?  The judge, a lawyer, the sheriff’s men, they were all in on this. What do I do?

Excerpt:

Heart pounding and palms clammy, Catriona forced herself to put one foot in front of the other and walked into the bookshop. It was bedlam. She’d never seen a bookshop so busy in her life.
She paused just inside the door. What the fuck was she doing? If someone saw her, recognised her—
She shook her head sharply and clenched her fists until her fingernails dug into her flesh, the nipping pain bringing her back to her senses.
No one would recognise her, she reminded herself, because no one knew who she was. Well, people knew who she was—but not in relation to the reason she was here.
Taking a deep breath and attempting to behave like a normal person, she continued through the shop, trying to figure out where she needed to be. Not that she even needed to be here at all. It was insanity that had drawn her out of her Thames-side apartment and into the bowels of the Tube, and finally into the huge Piccadilly bookstore.
What else but insanity would make a person head into central London to buy a copy of a book on the same day it came out? Especially when one already had a large box of copies of said book stuffed into the bottom of one’s wardrobe. Complimentary author copies, according to the note from the publisher.
Maybe it was curiosity, she thought, as she joined the back of the queue snaking across the ground floor of the shop. Nobody nearby was holding a copy of the book yet, so she assumed that somewhere between here and the till there was a stack of the paperbacks, ready to be picked up and paid for. And presumably read. Christ.
Surreptitiously, Catriona pinched the back of her hand. Wincing, she figured she had to get her head around this situation, and fast. It was only going to get bigger and crazier—or so the publisher’s marketing team, a bunch of young, attractive and scarily glamorous people, had told her.
She’d already seen plenty of evidence of their expenditure on the way over—billboards, bus shelters, ads on the Underground; all displaying huge versions of her book cover, proclaiming it a bestseller, quoting stellar reviews and even lauding it “the next big thing” and “the next Fifty Shades of Grey.” One strap line even said “Who needs Christian Grey when you’ve got Eliza Dickinson?”
It was the fact that her book had even been compared to the first big thing that she couldn’t quite grasp.
The Fifty Shades phenomenon had spawned merchandise, sex toys and even a film. But it was just a one-off, wasn’t it? Something that couldn’t be replicated, shouldn’t be replicated.
Catriona certainly hadn’t set out to write a book to appeal to the same readership. All she’d done was take out her real life frustrations—both sexual and otherwise—on the keyboard of her laptop. The rest had simply been a freak of nature.
How could it appeal to the same readership, anyway? Her characters were the complete opposite of E.L. James’—her lead female, Eliza, was a dominatrix, and Leon her willing sub. Or he was by the end of the book, anyway.
It didn’t matter. None of it mattered. Her book was out, today, and what happened next was completely out of her hands. She should just relax and go with the flow. Though she still couldn’t get over the fact that people were not only buying her book—they were queuing to buy it. Patiently, too, despite the glacial speed at which they were moving forward. Did they only have one till open, or something?
People had joined the line behind her as she’d been ruminating, and she shuffled around slightly so she could see how many more were waiting. Shit—there were loads! She couldn’t even see the end of the queue.
Her surprise must have shown on her face, because the man behind her let out a chuckle. “It’s crazy, isn’t it?” he said. “All these people waiting to buy a book when we could have purchased online—probably cheaper—and had it delivered directly to our doors. Or in a single click, have it appear on our eReaders.”
Catriona hadn’t even thought of that. So, not only were people here, in the bookstore—and presumably stores all over the country, too—they were buying online, loading up eReaders… all for her little book!

By S. Briones Lim

Blurb:
Don’t let her small size fool you; at five feet, two inches tall, Kacy Greene is a little spitfire who will be the first to put you in your place.
After making the mistake of dating, sleeping with and slapping her supervisor, she finds refuge spending her days surfing, where she meets food truck owner and soon-to-be new boss, Miles Parker. A southern boy, Miles moves to Mistcoast, CA with one thing in mind—to make his new business boom.
What he doesn't count on is meeting a wrecking ball named Kacy who sends his life into a whirl. Blinded by his immediate attraction for her, he hires her on the spot and is soon disappointed to find that their relationship isn't going to go where he hoped it would.
Being nothing more than a shoulder to cry on, he hatches a plan to win her heart. Unfortunately, like the ocean waves, love can be very unpredictable.
You’ve read Riley’s and Blake’s love story, now learn about Kacy and Miles…

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Authors Bio:

Thanks to her Mom’s unwavering devotion to read a childhood bedtime story to her every single night, S. BRIONES LIM’s love for books began before she could even speak.
Raised in Southern California, Lim initially dreamt of becoming an artist. After a Psychology Degree (Summa cum Laude), a stint in Art School, and a career in Advertising/Media she is finally diving back into her first love – books. As a self-renowned bookworm, Lim’s love for reading has inspired her to pen her own novels and hopes her readers will fall in love with her stories as much as she enjoys writing them.
Her obsessions include time with family, Cherry Coke, popcorn with jalapeños, watching movies and her dogs, Tobi and Roscoe. She currently lives in Virginia with her husband.
