BLURB:

A desperate competition and sizzling attraction leads to dangerous desire.

New York Marine biologist Veronica “Roni” Keane is attending the Havana Bay Conference in Cuba. Tomorrow only one grant will be awarded which will provide the winner with professional recognition, resources for a project, and living expenses for two years. She hopes to continue her deceased father’s work, but smooth operator, Carlos Montoya, has won many grants in the past.

Carlos, a freelancer for the Havana Port Authority, works to help protect Havana’s reputation as a bastion of safety. As international travelers flock to the island, attracted by its 1950’s time-warp and colonial architecture, the drug business is running rampant, particularly on Roni’s cruise ship. Something’s not right, and when her scuba tanks are tampered with, Carlos brings in the military police to investigate. For her safety, he keeps her close, but he craves her body.

Their attraction leads to a fun night with a bit of kink. But Roni finds herself in more trouble than she bargained for when the criminals blame her for alerting the military police and come looking for her. Can Roni trust Carlos to protect her? Will she stay in Havana if Carlos wins the coveted grant, or kiss her lover goodbye?

GENRE:   erotic romance, suspense

Tirgearr Publishing - Leading The Pack
The book is on sale for $0.99.

Excerpt:

Veronica was a looker without the jaded appearance of the many women he'd seen wandering from her cruise ship. Most of the time she dressed in business attire, but her curves smoldered underneath. Her high heels fit with Cuban fashion. The moonlight highlighted her shoulder-length blonde hair. While scuba diving, he'd forced himself to look away from her long, bare legs for fear he'd run his hands up them and tuck his fingers beneath her thighs. At the restaurant, he’d enjoyed a little banter, but tonight he'd gotten another glimpse of her toned body as she crept across the deck. The short dress plastered against her and she hitched it up to move around. The light sway of her hips brought him to his knees. He shuffled around the cabin, his dick pressing against his zipper. Cruise vessels were being monitored by Border Protection, and he'd make sure no harm came to her. He glanced across the water and reminded himself to be useful.

It'd been the same since he and his buddy, Alberto, from the military police put two and two together. They'd sat on a rooftop deck of a bar overlooking the harbor, watching local criminals getting on and off her ship, the Ecstasy.

"That operation needs extra eyes," Alberto had said with a swig of beer.

"What's going on?"

Alberto had glared at him. "Crims are dealing from the cruise ships. Your boat has—"

"A perfect location?" The next day, with military cameras and other equipment installed, Carlos started his surveillance job. Same drugs, different participants and ways of operation. Stuck on his cabin cruiser with no company was tough on the libido. Before leaving in the early hours of the morning, he connected his recording device to a landline provided by the port authority. At his house, he filed reports, uploaded photographs to support his narrative, showered, and then changed into his usual garb.

Most days he taught students studying abroad in English at the University of Havana. Cuban students interacted with American, South American, and European exchange students. Socializing made them seek a better life. New hopes and dreams threatened to divide their insular Cuban community. Now, during winter break, he attended the Oceanography Conference.

Every session had been a snore until he'd learned Veronica was pitted against him for the same grant. Stiff competition brightened the experience. The daughter of the late Cephalopodiatrist, Ronald Keane, didn't churn out an article a month for ten plus years without honing in on the power of eight. Octopuses changed shape and color at will, squirted ink, vanished through tiny cracks, and even tasted with their suckers. The predators reminded him of himself, but everything about Veronica put her in the guileless category.

Did she not know he'd invited her to scuba dive with a handful of judges to even out the playing field? He'd won a handful of grants. Networking was about making connections and building mutually beneficial relationships. Instead of joining the crew afterward for drinks, she'd assisted his eighty-year-old abuela off the boat and down The Malecón seawall. That day a cold front blew in, and massive waves crashed  against her chances to expand her sphere of influence. Too bad Bela had lit on her like a sticky butterfly. His heart skipped with Veronica in the midst of a beat.

He was aware of the routine when anyone researched and wrote scholarly articles. She had to plan. Make predictions. Envision. Check data, and then double-check. On paper everything was perfect. But in reality, when competing for a grant, something went wrong. She didn’t sell herself. Perhaps he'd frostily point that out, later, somehow, and help her future efforts.

Movement on the deck outside his cabin brought him back to the present. Veronica stood and turned toward the dock, and he followed her silently to the front of the boat.

A guard in a light blue uniform stormed down the dock. Will she jump toward him?

#GiveAway #interview ~ Sophie Washington: The Snitch by Tonya Duncan Ellis ~ @TonyaDEllis

~*~*~*~*~*~
Interview with Tonya Duncan Ellis :

Crystal: Today I have the pleasure of hosting Tonya Duncan Ellis. Welcome, Tonya! I'm so happy to have you here. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Tonya: I was born and raised in Louisville, KY but have lived in the Houston area, a place I love, for the past 14 years. I’m married and have three children. I’ve worked as a journalist and freelance writer but have always wanted to write my own book. I was inspired to start my Sophie Washington chapter book series based on the antics of my own three children and my love for one-of-a-kind Houston surburbia (we see 8-foot alligators and wild boar roaming through our neighborhoods on a regular basis) that I felt would be interesting to many.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

Tonya: My current project, due to be released this March, is Sophie Washington: Hurricane. In this book Sophie and her family are evacuated from their home in the Houston suburbs when a natural disaster hits the city. She learns lessons about gratefulness and appreciation when a friend is flooded out of her home.

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for either your current release or your current WIP?

Tonya: The Snitch came about after my daughter and some of her friends were harassed at school and were more nervous about other kids calling them tattletales than the pain inflicted by the bully. I came up with the idea for Hurricane after I lived through Hurricane Harvey. It was a surreal experience seeing alligators swimming around places where I had played tennis and my neighbors floating down streets in kayaks. Our diverse community pulled together in a way that was heartwarming.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite snack that you like to munch on while writing? If so would you mind sharing what it is with us?

Tonya: I usually don’t eat much when I’m writing, but if I want to nibble I choose popcorn and peanut M & Ms, eating a handful of one and then the other.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Tonya: My favorite scene in The Snitch is in Chapter 12 “Lights, Camera, Action.” The kids have decided they’ve had enough of Lanie Mitchell’s bullying and plan to secretly video tape her in action on their cell phones so they can turn her in. Sophie has pretty much been a wimp throughout the book but this time she stands up for herself. Things get out of hand and one of the characters ends up getting hurt.

Crystal: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

Tonya: Reading is my main hobby and I also like to do active things such as ride my bike outside and go swimming. A couple of years ago I took up knitting as a hobby with a care team at my son’s school. My family teases me that I’m like a little old lady but it’s really relaxing. We make blankets for people with health issues and this past year donated 100 completed blankets to families who were flooded out of their homes from Hurricane Harvey. A mom who got one of my blankets came to me crying and told me what a comfort it was to her family to cuddle up in the blanket in their upstairs since their downstairs is still under repair. This was so touching to me.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite background noise you like to have going while you write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

Tonya: I hate lots of background noise when I am writing at home. I rarely have music playing because I start singing to it and lose focus, and TV noise gets on my nerves. I’ve yelled upstairs to my kids to be quiet at least five times while I’ve been working on blog tour responses this afternoon. Surprisingly, I’m able to tune out sounds when I write away from home, and I’ve completed parts of Sophie Washington: The Snitch, waiting for my kids to finish team practices and other appointments.

Crystal: Thanks for visiting. It has been a pleasure having you visit today. Can you think of anything else you would like to share with us today?

Tonya: Thanks for having me, and thanks to readers for stopping by to the blog post to learn more about me and my Sophie Washington book series!

BLURB:

There’s nothing worse than being a tattletale…

That’s what 10-year-old Sophie Washington thinks until she runs into Lanie Mitchell, a new girl at school. Lanie pushes Sophie and her friends around at their lockers, and even takes their lunch money. If they tell, they are scared the other kids in their class will call them snitches, and won’t be their friends. And when you’re in the fifth grade, nothing seems worse than that.

Excitement at home keeps Sophie’s mind off the trouble with Lanie. She takes a fishing trip to the Gulf of Mexico with her parents and little brother, Cole, and discovers a mysterious creature in the attic above her room. For a while, Sophie is able to keep her parents from knowing what is going on at school. But Lanie’s bullying goes too far, and a classmate gets seriously hurt. Sophie needs to make a decision. Should she stand up to the bully, or become a snitch?

GENRE: Children's (Middle Grade)

Excerpt:

“Nice glasses,” smiles Mariama, one of my other good friends in our class. Mariama’s family moved to our neighborhood from Nigeria last year. Some people make fun of her because she dresses different sometimes and talks with an African accent, but she’s really nice.

“Thanks, this is my first time wearing them,” I say. “I was a little nervous this morning.”

“Well, you shouldn’t be because they look really good,” she assures me. A few of our other classmates come through the hall, and no one seems to pay too much attention to me wearing glasses. Seems like it’s not a big deal after all.

“Hey Soph,” calls Chloe, rushing over to join us at the lockers, “those are some cute specs. I may get some with red frames to match my uniform logo.”

“You’re supposed to wear glasses to see, Chloe,” Mariama and I laugh.

“Well, they can be used for fashion, too,” she informs us.

We compare notes on last night’s science homework and grumble about the many review packets Mr. Simpson assigns.

“He must really want us to become astronauts,” Chloe complains.

“Yeah, it took me over an hour to get mine done,” I say.

Suddenly, I hear Mariama whistle under her breath.

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

I see Lanie moving in our direction.

You mean she bothers Mariama, too? I think to myself.

“Hey, Miss Tarzan,” Lanie says, turning toward our friend. “I see you’re wearing that necklace from Africa that you promised me,” she says, pointing at the string of colorful wooden beads my friend is wearing.

Mariama, who is at least a foot shorter than Lanie and probably 15 pounds lighter, starts to shake.

“My mother gave me this necklace,” she says, “and it was a gift from her mother to her.”

“Well, it’s going to be my gift now,” Lanie snarls, reaching out to grab it.

“Why don’t you give it a rest?” says Chloe, moving to block her.

“And who’s going to make me?” Lanie smirks.

I feel my face getting hot under my new glasses. I am so tired of Lanie bothering everybody and spoiling all our fun. If I wasn’t so scared of people calling me a snitch, I would march right down to the principal’s office and tell on this bully.

“Leave her alone, Lanie,” I say through gritted teeth.

“And who’s going to stop me?” she asks.

“Me.”

Lanie laughs and shoves me against the locker.

“You couldn’t stop a flea.”

“Come on, Sophie, let’s just go,” Chloe urges.

But I’ve had enough.

I shove the bully back.

“I said, leave her alone.”

Lanie looks surprised for a second.

“Fine, if she won’t give me her necklace, then I’ll take yours.”

She yanks my precious silver friendship chain from my neck and knocks me to the floor so quickly that my new glasses fall off.

“Sophie!” Chloe and Mariama rush over to help me as the bully hurries off down the hall.

“I hate her!” I reach on the floor for my new glasses and see that the glass is cracked in one of the lenses.

“Oh no!”

What am I going to do now?

EXCERPT:

My foemina? What does that mean? Amazed at the wash of chills ripping up her neck upon each sinfully sexy word wafting across her ear, Makenna locked her knees to keep from melting into a pile of steaming goo. She’d thought him more than stunning while he’d stared up at her window from the street, but being mere inches from him left her befuddled and grasping for the perfect adjectives.

Fallen angel zipped through her lethargic brain, trying to settle and make sense of the breathtaking creature trapping her in the corner. His palm slowly moved away from her mouth, leaving her to fight for something to say or at least release her frazzled emotion on a string of sound. Move, stupid, she silently screamed at her frozen body. Strong fingers quickly captured her jaw as all focus dove to the sensation of his soft facial hair tickling across her cheek and warm, masculine lips covering her own.

Oh my God! He’s kissing me. Why is he kissing me? Despite the shocking realization, Makenna still expected to feel a knife sliding into her gut, not a big palm gripping her ass and pulling her closer. He took ownership of her mouth—skillful, probing, demanding, yet gentle in its execution. Magnificent. Fire shot through her groin upon his continued refusal to release her right fist from the wall, leaving her shaky and weak. She molded to his hard, powerful body, immediately disturbed at the guttural moan rolling up her throat and joining his. Ah God. He tastes so good.

BLURB:

I love managing Red Light Lingerie, a sexy boutique in Dallas. I get to spend my days talking to people about bedroom wear, sex toys, and enhancement lotions for all occasions. But by far, my favorite erotic job perk is my sexy British boss, Maxwell Penn.

Max is a Matthew McConaughey look-alike who’s equal parts dreamboat and domineering pain in the neck, and I regularly fluctuate between “I want to bed him” and “I want to strangle him.” But still, yum.

The paradigm of our relationship, however, changes irrevocably when a lingerie designer, a friend of Max’s from Britain, comes to town, and I have to stand in for a no-show lingerie model. Before I can say G-string, I find myself sandwiched between Max and his dark-n-sexy friend.

I’d be in total heaven if it weren’t for the guilt swirling in Max’s blue eyes. I have no idea why it’s there, but I’m bound and determined to find out.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains descriptions of consensual activities, including eroticism and discipline. If you object to these elements, please do not read this book.

GENRE:   contemporary BDSM

~*~*~*~*~*~*~
EXCERPT:

Max strolled in like he owned the place, which was appropriate, considering he did own the place. But did he have to do it looking sexier than any man should be allowed to be?

I clutched my hand over my heart. “Max, you scared the living shit outta me! I thought a maniac had stuck around after hours.”

“My apologies, Ms. Jennings,” he said.

Bree. Bree. Bree. I wished he’d stop with the formalities and go back to calling me Bree, the way he used to before our relationship had gone sideways.

“It’s okay,” I said, readjusting the strap of my travel bag. “My mind was…elsewhere.”

Max nodded, looking me up and down with the Texas-sky-blue eyes that fueled my fantasies, and my heart kicked up a few more beats per minute. That time, however, my reaction had nothing to do with fear.

Why’d he have to be so damned sexy?

Tanned, muscular, and topping six foot, he was a walking wet dream, and the stimulating hum between my legs, the one that had been driving me crazy all night, morphed into a high-powered tingle. I doubted even my trusty Rabbit could ease the ache.

Dangerous Pursuit by McKenna Jeffries:

Going after what you want isn’t usually a problem yet this time it’s more important than any other and it will take careful maneuvering to win this dangerous pursuit…

Jana Taylor didn’t shy away from anything or anyone. Working with a lawyer wasn’t usually an issue but it was him. The infuriating man who set her on edge and made her want to deck him as well as kiss him equally. It was a routine escort for some business for the company she worked for or so it should have been. Now they were in danger and they didn’t know if it was because of the company she worked for or something Elliot did for his law firm. Figuring it out would be fun since she loved puzzles but working with him not so much. Elliot didn’t seem to understand that he was in danger and it was her job to protect him. His stubborn instance he could protect himself would either get him killed or she would give into temptation and deck him…or maybe kiss him. Possibly both.

Elliot Stephenson wasn’t about to hide from anything or anyone. In his family you stood up and fought. According to what was needed it could be dirty or giving someone a fair shot. Either way it was ingrained in him to win any battle in and out of the boardroom. Almost dying wasn’t something he usually had to handle in his job as a corporate lawyer but since someone tried to kill him then he would adapt. Now it was his goal to get to the bottom of who it was then eliminate the problem. Having her—Jana Taylor—who was determined to protect him by his side was a good thing. For him. He’d been wondering how he’d get her to stop avoiding him and face what was simmering between them. Now with their circumstances she would have no choice. He wasn’t going to just be a protectee and would take part in protecting himself but he also knew he needed her. Not just to save his life but to also become part of it.

When stubbornness meets an obstacle they cannot overcome they have to learn to work together to embrace the dangerous pursuit.….

Recon Strong by Krista Ames:

Dirk Rockwell knew when he left the Marines that he wanted to be in private security. The need to protect had been ingrained in his brain for too many years not to. Lately, however, it was really taxing his nerves. He was used to killing if he needed to, to protect his charge, not step in between a disgruntled husband and wife during a domestic dispute. When he took on the latest assignment to protect a woman who’d snapped one too many secret photographs, he’d only agreed because an old friend had recommended him. Meeting Avery proved to him that not all women needed protection equally.

Avery Hanson lived for the rush of almost getting caught. That’s why she chose freelance photography as a profession. The sticky part was when she did get caught. However, this time wasn’t like the usual quick brush with the local law where she could talk herself out of it with a slap on the hand. She’d somehow gotten mixed up in some nasty hush hush with the federal government. This time, she didn’t just need out of yet another mess, she needed help staying alive.

Without the necessary channels to cover both their asses, Dirk enlists the help of The Omega Team. But will it be enough to keep him from losing his charge and his heart?
