BLURB:

Safe in the ivory tower…

Gabriel Miller swears he’ll keep me safe. Enemies lurk outside, waiting to strike. An army held back by these walls.

Except some animal instinct warns me the danger is much closer. It’s already here. Is Gabriel my protector or my enemy? Is this house a castle or a cage?

There’s nowhere for me to go, no one left for me to trust.

No escape from a past determined to capture its prize.

EXCERPT:

“Still giving orders, little virgin? Is that something you’re born with in the St. James family, or did they teach you that along with your ABCs?”

Rage tightens a knot in my stomach. “I’m not a virgin.”

“No?” he asks, lifting a hand to my face.

I stand very still as he captures my chin between his thumb and forefinger, torn between wanting to wrench away and wanting him to kiss me. How can he make me feel alive when I’ve been sleepwalking for months, years? What sick twist of fate let the hands of this man bring me pleasure?

“You made sure of that.” I mean the words to come out cold, unhurt. Instead I sound breathless and somehow inviting. The white carpet may as well be streaked with red. We’re both back in his bedroom, both flushed and sated and ripped to shreds from what he’s just done.

He lifts my face, almost tender. “I put my cock into your warm little hole. Pushed right through that thin hymen to do it. It felt like fucking heaven to break you open.”

I’m a tuning fork in his hands, and the sound I make is pure arousal. “I despise you.”

“You were so wet,” he says, almost thoughtful. “But some of it was blood, wasn’t it?”

“I’m going to find a way to get my house back.”

He bends his head slightly, enough that our lips are an inch away, the words a tickle of breath against my lips. “I got off on the slide of your blood on my cock. I came that way, spilling salt into the fresh open wound.”

There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to him, no line I wouldn’t cross in this moment. My anger takes an unholy shape, rearing back with all the fury and fear of a wild horse ready to trample his enemy. “And God help me, I’m going to ruin you. The way you did my father. I’m going to break you.”

He nudges my chin higher, exposing the vulnerable line of my throat. His mouth drops to the tender skin, a whisper of a kiss. “Do you want to make me bleed, little virgin?”

The violence takes me by surprise. My swing is wild, aimed straight for his face with all my strength. He catches my wrist midmotion, the abrupt stop shooting pain down my arm. We’re frozen that way, him holding me, breathing each other’s air.

“Don’t call me that,” I say between clenched teeth.

“Little virgin.”

“I’m not. You saw the proof of it. You paid a million dollars for it.”

“Actually,” he says, voice deceptively mild. “I paid a million dollars to use you for a month. And as that month isn’t over yet, I think I’d like to collect.”

Shock courses through me, singeing every angry intention. “No.”

“And as for your virginity, there are a hundred ways you haven’t been taken. A thousand ways you haven’t been fucked. A million dollars left to earn.”

“That money’s mine. You sent me away.”

“And yet,” he says, echoing his earlier words, “here you fucking are. This is what you wanted. This is what you came for. Did you really think you’d see me and walk away without my come inside you?”

My gasp sounds virginal even to myself. “Of course I did.”

He uses the hold on my wrist to drag me closer, off balance, almost falling into him. His warmth surrounds me, along with a musk my body remembers. Alarm bells ring more than they did this morning. A strange man could hurt me, but Gabriel—he’s worse. My own kryptonite.

“Here’s the thing about fucking a virgin,” he whispers, breath a caress on my temple. “You gave me your pretty little hymen, the small spill of blood. The first feel of those walls squeezing my cock. And there’s no way to get it back, not ever. No matter who else you fuck. Even if you settle down with some prep-school fucker and let him climb on top of you every single night, I’ll always be your first. You will always be my little virgin.”

The show of possession does something strange to me. It should be offensive. It’s meant to be offensive, but the humiliation turns liquid and hot inside my body. And the worst part is, I can’t even deny the truth. He left an imprint inside me. I can still remember the stretch of him, the burn. The very shape of that heavy thickness I can feel against my stomach now. And anyone who comes after him, they’ll never quite fill the space he carved inside of me.

“That’s right,” he murmurs, soothing now that I’ve acquiesced. “I’ve got you.”

“No, we can’t—”

He releases my wrist only to run a finger along my cheek. “So young. You look so young like this.”

“It’s the makeup,” I say with difficulty. And the hair. And the clothes. In a thousand ways I was different before, the society princess. What am I now? Almost homeless. Definitely scared.

His eyes gentle, more brown than they’ve been before. “You didn’t think you were getting fucked today. You got dressed and took the bus and came up the elevator having no idea.”

“Don’t feel sorry for me.”

A slight smile. “Not enough to stop. Take off those clothes. Let’s see what you look like when you’re just a sweet, innocent college girl and not the toy I bought at auction.”

#Review - Hot Target by Elle James

I'm loving the new Ballistic Cowboys series by Elle James. I could not wait to get my hands on Hot Target and started reading it as soon as it was in my hot little hands. This is yet another captivating story with drama, suspense, mystery, action, and romance. This book has it ALL!

Max "Caveman" Decker is ready to return to his team after being injured on a mission. Instead he's assigned to new task force in Wyoming. This guy is one that I would want in my corner if someone wanted me to disappear in a permanent way. He's smart, really good at his job, charming, and just a good guy.

Grace Saunders has suffered a lot of heartache in her life. The poor lady thinks it is all her fault and there must be something wrong with her. She has a heart of gold and loves animals. Her love of animals is what puts her in the wrong time and wrong place to see some one murdered.

Caveman was assigned to watch after someone else. Caveman and Grace end up working together after an encounter in the mountains. I quickly bonded with both Caveman and Grace. I loved Grace's attitude. She has just a touch of sass and a whole lot of Independence. It was interesting watching Caveman convince Grace to take him up on his offer of protection. That could have a little bit to do with the incredible attraction between them. The attraction leads to some hot passion with plenty of fireworks.

The suspense in this book is breath taking. My heart was pounding as I quickly flipped pages wondering how these two were going to get out of danger. I won't tell you too much because you are going to want to grab up your own copy of Hot Target and start reading now!

This is the second book in the Ballistic Cowboy series but stands on it's own just fine. I have read Hot Combat and it is just as awesome as Hot Target. I would suggest grabbing them both now. If you are an Elle James fan like me your going to love them both!

I was given the opportunity to read this fantabulous book and it is my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

#Review - Montana Ranger by Elle James

Montana Ranger is part of the Brotherhood Protectors Series but stand just fine on it's own. This book has all those elements that makes for one really great read. There is mystery, suspense, drama, unexpected twist, romance, heart warming moments, and strong friendships.

Hannah Kendricks has such a kind heart. She's sweet, intelligent, not afraid of hard work, and she sure does know how to do her job helping the clients that have came to Brighter Days Ranch for therapy. She has a way of helping them learn how to do things on their own and together that makes them feel better and shows them that just because they have challenges it doesn't mean they can't still do things. I was really impressed this this story line. It's a heart warming story with several heart pounding moments of suspense.

Alex “Taz” Davila has received clearance that he is able to work again after a mission went horribly wrong and left him with a brain injury and cost his friends and team mates their lives. It was impossible not to fall for Taz. He's been through so much and still doesn't remember everything that he wants to know. Taz has no idea his first mission with the Brotherhood Protectors might just be helpful to him too.

Hannah and Taz have an instant attraction that they both fight because it goes against the "rules" they have set for themselves. The attraction is just too strong and it's not long before that smoldering passion turns into some might power fireworks.

Hannah is such a kind person that no one can figure out why these "accidents" keep happening to her. Everyone on the Brighter Days Ranch is determined to watch after Hannah and try to keep her safe. Taz is determined to protect this woman that is quickly finding a spot in his heart. He will do what ever it takes to make sure no harm comes to her.

I have to say Ms. James threw some twists in there that I did not see coming. Of course I'm not going to tell you what they were. You are going to want to grab up this incredible story and read it for yourself. If you are a fan of Elle James' work you are in for another classic example of her wonderful talent. If you have not had a chance to read anything by Elle James yet but enjoy a wonderful romantic suspense story then give this one a try. I sure you will not be disappointed. I know I've never been disappointed with an Elle James story that is for sure.

Over all I truly enjoyed Montana Ranger. The story line is spectacular and had me mesmerized from the first page to the last. The characters are extraordinary and really touched my heart.

I was given the chance to read the fantastic book and it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

#Review - Hot Combat by Elle James

Don't you just love when you start a new book and find yourself so engrossed in the story that you have read a majority of the book in no time at all? That is what happened to me when I started Hot Combat by Elle James. I was so completely engrossed in the story that I finished it in one setting. I just could not set this book down.

Charlie McClain is a smart independent single mother raising an adorable little girl. She needs all the money she can make to pay the bills and pay off her student loans. She never dreams that her "night" job could lead danger to her and her daughter. Charlie is one of those characters that is so likable that I felt like I gained a new friend right from the beginning of the story.

Jon "Ghost" Caspar has suffered an injury while on a mission with his SEAL team. While he is still on medical leave he has been loaned out to home land security. Ghost is a charming guy that knows how to get the job done. He is ready to head back to his team until he learns who it is he's going to be looking after.

I enjoyed watching Charlie and Ghost getting know each other again. The attraction that was there seven years ago is still simmering at the surface. That simmering attraction is hard to contain and oh my when it erupts things turn rather warm quickly. There are so many things that are holding these two apart. They have a lot of issues to deal with if they are going to find their happily ever after together.

Some of my favorite scenes involve Lolly. She is such a sweet little girl. She's smart, kind, and so much to the story line.

Ghost is protective of those he cares about and Charlie and Lolly are on the top of that list. He and his team have to figure out who is threatening Charlie before something drastic happens. I can tell this is going to be an awesome series and I can not wait to find out more about the other members of this team. These guys work well together. Now they just have to find more answers.

There are some incredibly dramatic action packed scenes that left me breathless and wondering how everyone is going to get through the situation unharmed. Elle James writes the kind of stories that I can devour quickly and leaves me craving her next release as soon as possible.

I was given the chance to read this fantastic story and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

#Review - Deadly Fall by Elle James

Deadly Fall (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) by [James, Elle]It's been a while since I've devoured a wonderful Elle James story. Deadly Fall was a nice fix for my Elle James craving.

Andrew Stratford has all the money he could possible need and more problems then he knows what to do with. He and his little girl were both in a horrible situation not long ago and both are still recovering and trying hard to forget their pasts.

Andrew is smart, caring, and not always sure how to show his feelings. He loves his little girl but is still finding his way in parenthood.

Leigha is such a sweet little girl, incredibly smart, and very possibly in a lot of danger. Andrew hires a bodyguard and gets way more than he is bargaining for.

Dixie Reeves has been through a lot. This woman is strong, tough, independent, and a lady everyone would want in their corner if they were in trouble. She also has a sweet side. She had no idea she was great with kids until she meets the adorable Leigha. They bond instantly and Dix will do anything to keep her new charge safe.

Andrew and Dix don't exactly start on the right foot. Their friction quickly turns to attraction. They both have suffered so much in their past. Is it possible that two damaged souls could be exactly what they need to heal.

I loved the interaction with Leigha in this book. She plays a huge role not only in the romance but in the mystery as well. She is quite the little character and I adored her from the beginning. My heart also broke for this sweet girl. You'll see why when you grab up your copy of this great book.

This book is full of mystery and drama. I was held spellbound from the first page all the way to the end. I read this book in one setting because there was NO WAY I was putting it down until I found out exactly who and why were causing problems for these three people.

I was given the chance to read this intense page turner story and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

Protect and Serve
by Sabrina York

The last thing officer Charlie Dunham expects when he returns to his hometown is to tangle with his high school crush, Claire Silver, right off the bat. He’d planned to ignore her entirely—the way she’d always ignored him. But when a mysterious threat puts her in danger, he must step in and save her. It doesn’t take long for him to realize that he’s been lying to himself about his feelings for Claire. He wants her…no matter the cost.

READ AN EXCERPT:

Un-fricking-believable. Claire Silver, in his arms, letting him kiss her.
And what a magnificent kiss it was. He caught her by surprise, so her lips were parted. When he pressed his mouth against hers, she sighed, or something like it, and her essence filled his being.
Damn, she tasted good.
He yanked her closer, tipped his head and deepened the kiss. Loved that she responded. Slowly, tentatively at first, but then with increasing passion. She looped her arms around his shoulders and cupped his nape with her palm. Stroked him with her thumb as he delved deeper.
She was a tiny thing, but the full package. Her body was soft and fit him in all the right places.
And yeah. All the times he’d fantasized about kissing her…not one of them even came close to the reality.
His passion rose and he couldn’t help pressing against her belly. She made a sound like a moan and reciprocated, arching into him and curling her fingers against his skin.
The parted by mutual consent—though an ache rose as he lost the connection—and he sighed.
She stared up at him, her eyes damp, lips parted. And yeah, they were damp too. Her tongue swept out and he nearly lost it, right then and there.
“When did you get so tall?” she asked in a contemplative tone, one almost devoid of prickles.
“When did you get so short?” he asked. “You’re practically a runt.”
She hit him with her fist, but only in jest. He barely felt it. “I’m not a runt.”
“You’re short. I have to bend down to kiss you.”
“You could always kiss someone else,” she said in a defiant tone.
“You could stand on a box.”
“I’m not standing on a box.”
He tsked at her. “You’re being unreasonable.”
“Am I?” she said on a laugh. It was hard to maintain his dour demeanor. They turned and strolled over to Main Street, as though neither was ready for this interaction to end.
“Yes. Lots of women throughout history have stood on a box for their men.”
“Name one.”
“Queen Victoria.”
“I don’t believe that for a minute.”
“It’s true. Google it.”
“I’m not going to Google it. I have better things to do than worry about how Queen Victoria climbed Prince Albert.”
“There are more.”
“Oh dear.” She gusted a sigh. “Do tell.”
“Cleopatra. Joan of Arc. Mother Teresa.”
“Balderdash. Mother Teresa never kissed a man.”
“How do you know?”
“She was a nun.”
He waggled his brows. “She wasn’t always a nun.”
“This conversation is pointless.”
“It is not. It is very important that we work this out. I would like to kiss you again, at some point.” Like now.
“Wouldn’t you rather kiss Cleopatra? She was very beautiful and passionate and, from what I understand, was willing to stand on a box.”
“Ah, but you’re forgetting the asps. I try to avoid women who keep vipers as pets.”
“Well, yes, I suppose that is a good idea.” He took her hand as they wandered toward the park, and she let him. In fact, she interlaced their fingers, which he found encouraging indeed. The night air was sweet and cool and riffled gently through her hair. Her beauty was only enhanced by the glow of the moon. “If you could kiss any of them, which would you choose?” she asked after a moment.
“Hmm.” He pretended to ponder this conundrum. “I can’t think of any other short woman I would rather kiss than you.”
She stopped and looked up at him, torn between outrage and humor. “I’m not short.”
They were next to the merry-go-round—which was providential—so he lifted her up on it. Finally they were face-to-face. “That’s better.”
“What’s better?” she said, but her voice had softened and she leaned into him in a delicious way. He rocked the merry-go-round, just a bit, just enough to make her clutch him in her surprise.
“And better still.”
“Good sir, I do think you intend to debauch me.”
Debauch her? Hmm. Not a bad idea. “I was planning to kiss you, but hey, who am I to deny a lady?”
She stilled as their gazes clashed. Her smile faded. In its place was something even more lovely. Desire. He pulled her closer and breathed in her scent.
“Did you know I had a crush on you when we were kids?” He wasn’t sure why he admitted it. He’d sworn he never would.
“You did?” Her eyes widened.
“Couldn’t you tell?”
“No. You were so mean to me.”
“Only because I wanted your attention.”
She scudded her palm over his short hair. It felt divine. “Do you want my attention now?”
“Oh, absolutely.”
“Are you going to be mean?”
“Never.”
“Well, then,” she said, but she didn’t finish the sentence, unless she meant to express herself in a more tactile fashion. She tipped her head to the side and pressed her mouth to his. It was tender and soft and clinging and it incited him to respond. He nudged her lips apart with his tongue and tasted her. She groaned and her fingers curled; she raked her nails over his scalp.
And damn, it was good. A shiver danced up his spine.
Unfortunately, bracing on the merry-go-round was a bad strategy, because it kept moving, so he whipped her up into his arms and sat, cradling her on his lap. He leaned her against one of the poles and used that for leverage in his kiss.
He tasted her, reveled in her and she reciprocated. He had no idea how long they kissed, explored, exulted in each other, but it wasn’t nearly long enough. Forever would be good, he supposed. Not asking much.

This was too wonderful to even think of stopping. Protect and Serve is a Stripped Down Cowboy Prequel Novella!
