Meet the Author:

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there lived a princess…

Growing up, I was a proficient story teller, with most of my plots encompassing princesses and princes and dreams coming true. Now as an author, some of my stories are still about royalty, knights, duels, ladies, intrigue, betrayal. History fascinates me and I try to bring history back to life in each of my stories.

My favorite time periods are medieval, renaissance and Regency eras of Europe. Growing up, I was lucky to have grandparents who lived in Paris, so many a summer was spent exploring medieval ruins and historical sites.

One of my all time favorite books is Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, and I am of course Jane Austen fan, my two favorites being Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. I love the in-depth, emotionally riveting and intriguing works of historical author, Ken Follett. I am also a fan of Shakespeare, and you will find in a lot of my writing reference to the literary God and his work. Not only Shakespeare, but other period poets and literary notables of history are on my keeper shelf. My love affair with the romance genre started young. I picked up my first romance novel, The Bride, by Julie Garwood when I was in high school, and I haven’t been able to stop reading or writing romance since.

When I’m not reading or writing I am usually doing research for fun. If you love history, come visit me at History Undressed, where we discuss all the wildly fascinating and titillating facts of history! Recently I’ve started to post reviews of historical fiction and romance novels as well.

 The Taking of Ireland
By Anna Markland

Inside the Book:

Long ago, in a time of myth, a prince sailed from Galicia to Inisfail seeking revenge for the murder of his uncle by the High King…

Sibrán expects to encounter an opposing army but instead is greeted by a beautiful woman who appears to be accompanied only by her faithful wolfhound. Aislinn bids him welcome, but he suspects she is a sorceress sent to kill him by the very king he plans to slay.

As they journey to the Fort of Kings, events prove that Aislinn does indeed possess powers beyond those of an ordinary human, yet he cannot deny he is inexorably drawn to her. He believes Destiny has brought him to Inisfail, but can he persuade Aislinn that she too is destined to play a role in the establishment of a new kingdom? Or will she remain forever the slave of the tyrant Moqorr who claims to be King of the Otherworld as well as Inisfail?

Perhaps they are all under the evil king’s spell.

Meet the Author:

I’m a Canadian author with a keen interest in genealogy. I write medieval romance about family honour, ancestry, and roots. My novels are intimate love stories full of passion and adventure.

Passion conquers whatever obstacles a hostile medieval world can throw in its path. My page-turning adventures have earned me a place on Amazon’s All-Star list.

Besides writing, I have two addictions-crosswords and genealogy, probably the reason I love research. I am a fool for cats. My husband is an entrepreneur who is fond of boasting he’s never had a job.

I live on Canada’s scenic west coast now, but I was born and raised in the UK and I love breathing life into the history of my homeland.

#Review - The Total Package by Stephanie Evanovich

The Total Package is the first book I have had the chance to read by Stephanie Evanovich. If this book is an indication it will not be my last. I was hooked at the beginning of the book and I could not wait to see how the whole story was going to play out. I have to say I was impressed.

Tyson Palmer has seen stardom and he's seen rock bottom. He is a bit skeptical when he's offered the chance to clean up his life, his body, and get his game back. I didn't know how it was going to go. He had hit the bottom so hard I thought it might be really hard for him to climb back up. It is a struggle but he works HARD and has to prove himself to everyone in the football world. I really admired Ty for getting his life back on track.

Dani Carr has a few secrets and heartaches from her past. When she is offered (maybe demanded she take the job) a job that is going to put her in contact with Ty she's nervous. I really liked Dani. This lady is tough and she has proven herself in the sports world as a great reporter.

Dani and Tyson are still attracted to each other after all this time. However there are so many things that could prevent a second chance at a relationship from working. I loved watching these two get to know each other again in a different light and different time.

My favorite scene is towards the end when Ty and Marcus work together to gain some VERY important information. This is a true act of friend and love. There is romance, laughter, drama, secrets to be revealed, family interaction, and friendships that are so true.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and became attached to them quite quickly. The story line was interesting and kept me captivated. I liked that Ty worked to gain back everything he had lost and he learned a lot a long the way. He treasured his career changes more and the life that goes with it. He was a lot smarter with money and his life style the second time around.

I would love to get my hands on more of Stephanie Evanovich's work. I have a feeling her other books are just as good.

I was given the chance to read this incredible story and it is my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

TAMING A LADY WOLFE EXCERPT:
The little head lifted and terrified eyes met his. Roderick’s heart raced faster. A girl with the largest, bluest eyes he had ever seen looked at him with absolute terror. Her skin was nearly white, making the shade of blue even sharper. She may have screamed but the noise of the rushing water muted the sound so that it looked as though she mouthed the word, “Help.” Then his racing heart nearly stopped. Between her pale countenance and her voiceless plea, it was almost as though she were a ghost already.
He looked to the top of cliff for but a moment to see his friend, Reginald. “Catch her,” he mouthed over and over. Roderick turned his focus back on the child, her eyes were still trained on him.
They were nearly underneath her when a noise did rise over the water. A large crack rent the air, and Roderick didn’t have to look to know that the cliff was giving way above. He didn’t know what would happen to the men standing there, but he couldn’t focus on them now. His eyes stayed on her and he yelled louder than he had ever yelled anything in his life. “Jump, jump now!” He moved down the ship as it passed to stay under her and his brain screamed a prayer—jump, please jump, just jump, I beg you jump—but he was running out of room on the boat. She wasn’t going to do it. He would pass her by and, unable to look away, he would watch her be crushed by falling rock.
Four more strides and he would reach the end, three and he would run out of space, two and then it would be too late, one and suddenly she saw the end too. All in one motion, she stood and hurtled herself into the air. Her body sailed toward him, arms and legs splayed wide, trying to slow her momentum. Dimly, he was aware that she was larger than he had thought, but not one second later, his hands made contact with her torso and he pulled her towards him. With a force he wouldn’t have thought possible, her body crashed into his and he stumbled backwards, hitting the rail. For a sickening second, he thought they might both fall into the tumultuous water but he clenched every muscle he had, even his face turned to granite, as he held her to him, both leaning out over the foaming, churning water.
Her eyes, even larger and bluer than they appeared on the cliff, stared into his. Unable to look away, by increments he straightened up with her in his arms so that they were not leaning over the water but solidly on the boat. “You’re all right,” he murmured, stroking her hair. “I’ve got you, you’re fine.”
Her purple lips parted, as though to answer, but nothing came out and then he watched as her eyes blinked twice and then closed. Her body went limp against his. For just a moment, he was afraid that he had still lost her, but then her warm breath blew across his cheeks even as her body went limp in his arms. He clutched her tighter and finally peeled his eyes away from her face.
In that instant, he knew that this was Delia. Reginald had been correct. This slip of a girl would change Roderick’s ways because, in this moment, something deep inside him shifted. He would give everything he had to keep her safe from harm. Life came into sharp focus.
