#GiveAway - Eye of the Soul By Terri Rochenski

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO EYE OF THE SOUL!

Eye of the Soul
Pool of Souls #1
By Terri Rochenski

Escape.
That should be Hyla’s first thought as her people are chained and imprisoned for no imaginable reason.

Instead, Hyla finds herself traveling through a land void of Natives, with human soldiers pillaging in desperate pursuit of her, and in search of the mystical Pool of Souls—home to the one man who can save her people.

Or so she believes.

Led by her faith in the deity Fadir, Hyla is met along her journey by Jadon—a human male and fierce King’s warrior, and his childhood best friend Conlin—one of the few Natives aware of his Fadir-given Talents.

Protected by Jadon, guided by Conlin, and with an unfailing belief in the purpose of her pilgrimage, Hyla carries on.

Like her, though, another searches for the Pool, and should he gain access first, everyone she loves, and everything she knows, could be lost.

Forever.

EXCERPT:

Cursing her arthritic fingers, Miri squeezed out a rag and draped it over the human man’s hot forehead.

“I’ve seen a lot more harvests than you, old goat,” she muttered, lifting his eyelids. “I’m thinking you’ll never catch up either. Doubt you last another half-moon’s phase.”

Miri pushed to her feet and stretched her hunched back. A heavy sigh slipped past her wrinkled lips as she glanced around the sick house. Keeping the night watch wasn’t too bad—she’d volunteered often since her old bones wouldn’t allow much sleep.“

Joints wasted, hearing all but gone …” Miri yanked on the long white braid lying over her shoulder. “I’m the old goat.”

She shuffled down the aisle, woolen kirtle swishing in the silence. A cool, autumn breeze rustled the crimson leaves of the magnolia and palm fronds overhead, drawing her gaze upward. Violet streaks lit the pre-dawn sky.A dog barked, yipped, and fell silent.

Miri peered across the village green to the thatched buildings beyond. A shadow passed between two cottages. Another three hurried toward the neighboring dwelling.

“Sight fading or my mind, too?” Miri rubbed her watery eyes, blinked, and leaned forward. Light flickered through the palm trees behind the outlying homes.

Torches?

The flames drew closer, weaving between the trunks.

Humans from the mainland? Miri’s hand clutched at her throat. Soldiers. Fadir have mercy.

The men crept through the village, taking up positions at every doorway. Two brutes, more horse-like in size than human, approached the sick house.

Sputtering torch held high, the first strode forward, dark eyes intent upon Miri. A green surcoat covered broad shoulders and fell to his thighs. The golden wheat sheaf of the city of Varosh adorned his chest.

Cold sweat beaded upon Miri’s brow. Breath burst from her lungs, and she moved back, clutching the door jam.

The second soldier stepped closer, chains and shackles clanking in his hand. He stopped two paces away from Miri, and a smile stretched his stubbled cheeks, revealing rotted teeth. “Good morning pointy-ears.”

Miri stared, heartbeat thundering in her ears. She’d been called worse in her eighty-three birth passings but never with such malice.

A single cry rang out across the village, and doors crashed inward. Screams rent the air.

“Don’t fight Native woman,” rotten-teeth sneered, shackles outstretched.

“W-why?” Miri whispered, taking a step backward.

A scowl narrowed his gaze, and his fist shot forward.Bursts of light and pain exploded through Miri as she crumpled to the floor.

#Review - GUILTY: The Protectors Series Ryan --by Karen Fenech

GUILTY: The Protectors Series -- Book Five by [Fenech, Karen]Guilty is the first chance I have had to read Karen Fenech's work. I quickly became engrossed in the story line and quickly formed an attachment to the characters.

Faith Winston has not had an easy life. She has suffered a great loss that has taken a piece of her heart. She's a very kind and caring lady, smart, independent, and a fierce lawyer. Faith finds herself in a world of danger when she takes on a high profile case. Everyone has placed blame on Faith for what they have accused her client of. Faith fights for his rights and tries to do everything in her power to make sure everything turns out OK.

Ryan Crosby has had a rough time of it. He's divorcing his wife and fighting for join custody of his little baby boy. He's also worried about his ex-girlfriend Faith. Ryan is a wonderful guy that just wants to be a good dad, a good police officer and chief, and keep Faith safe.

When the world starts to fall apart for Faith, Ryan steps in to help keep her safe. Her life very well may be in danger and so may the lives of those around here.

There are so many twists and turns in the book that had me holding my breath wondering what twist was around the next corner and just how Faith was going to get out this situation.

I don't want to tell you too much because you are going to want to grab up this great story and enjoy it yourself. There is drama, romance, family interaction, suspense, and action. All the great things that make up a fabulous read.

This is the fifth book in Protector series but never fear I think it stands on it's own just fine. I haven't had a chance to read the previous books and I had no problem enjoying this story.

Over all I enjoyed this story and want to read more by Karen Fenech. She had no problem keeping me captivated with her story line and characters. She's done a fabulous job of throwing a few twist and turns into the story that I did not see coming.

I was given the opportunity to read this wonderful book and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

Excerpt:

As she stepped up to the lane again, he should’ve tossed another cocky taunt at her, some barely disguised innuendo, but he could only watch. Despite her protests regarding bowling, they were having a good time. His head had been quiet so far. Not once in the last hour and a half had he thought of that fucking cell in Iraq. The crowd around him, the deafening noise, hadn’t triggered anything ugly, because he was lost in her, in keeping her smiling and laughing.
By the fourth game two hours later, they both played so lousy he laughed every time he stepped up to the lane. Cassie, though, was ahead by five points. This game would decide who won his little bet.
As it turned out, his ball curved off into gutter. Leaving all ten damn pins still standing.
Cassie let out a victorious squeal behind him, meeting him at the ball return with a grin plastered across her face and her chest puffed out with pride. She stepped into his personal space and poked him in the chest. “You. Are. Mine. I won, fair and square, soldier boy.”
He leaned down and touched his nose to hers. She might have won, but he could still pull a few punches of his own. “I’ve always been yours. Believe me, princess, I’m going to enjoy letting you have your way with me.”
That got her. Cassie froze, heat flaring in her eyes. A heady shiver moved through her as she stared up at him. “So, what now?”
“Well, that depends on you, but”—he leaned his head beside her ear and lowered his voice—“I’m dying to peel you out of those jeans.”
Her breathing hitched. When he met her gaze again, she stared at him for one tension-filled moment, grabbed his hand, and marched off, tugging him behind her. He followed in silence out of the bowling alley and into the quiet of the night. She didn’t say a word or even turn to look at him as she led him to where his brother’s car was parked at the back of the lot. Once there, she pressed him against the driver’s door. Hands braced on his chest, she lifted onto her toes and captured his mouth, all fire and determination. She pushed her tongue inside, her kiss hot and desperate, and he was pretty sure they were both shaking.
As suddenly as she’d kissed him, she released him, pausing a moment to catch his gaze. Hers was filled with the same need that had him tongue-tied. Then she moved around to the passenger side of the car.
His fingers shook as he dug his keys from his pocket and hit the fob. Once the doors unlocked, she climbed inside. When he got in after her, she reached over and threaded her fingers with his. “You should get this car moving, because in about two seconds, I’m going to climb into that seat with you. I need you. I…”
She shook her head, glancing over at him, vulnerability rising in her eyes.
She didn’t have to say the words. What she meant hung in the air, igniting a solar flare between them. She needed what he needed. Something soft and slow. A complete meshing of bodies. He had a feeling they really wouldn’t be sleeping tonight. Not out of physical need, but the soul-deep desire to be as close as possible. To make up for lost time. Three years apart was a lifetime, and the need in her eyes, mixing with the tears hovering at the edges of her lashes, told him she thought something similar.
He squeezed her fingers, then pushed the button to start the car and moved their combined hands to the gearshift. “Me, too, baby. Me too.”

Rex wrapped protective arm around Meryn’s shoulders.

“What seems to be a problem here?” he asked.

The man looked up, eyed Rex quickly. “No one is to be admitted.”

“On whose authority?” Rex demanded.

“The founding families have determined these will be closed-door proceedings.”

The guard never even looked up as he was speaking to Rex.

“Son, do you know who I am?” he asked.

The guard scoffed. “I am a vampire and probably older than you shifter. Watch who you call son.”

Kari heard a distinctive sound and then looked over Rex was grinding his teeth, his jaw muscles clenched. Declan shared the same habit when he was aggravated.

Author Info:

I’m L.M. Mountford.

I’m an erotica author, but please don’t judge me by that alone. I’m also trying to break into dark romance, historical action and sci-fi/ fantasy. Honestly though, I’m interested in anything plot that involves sex and violence. They make up some of the greatest stories in my opinion. A story is like any portrait, it needs to be made up of many colours, but make sure it has these two and you’re bound to be a susses.
When i was in school, i wanted to be an actor. I gave that up after a Final 'E' grade in GCSE Drama. That was a knock as everyone told me i was great. Before that and now, my dream is to be a successful author. I may be an author but i doubt i'll ever be successful, so i largely write for the love and challenge of it.

I wrote my first story when I was 14/15. A fanfiction story that I posted online. I’m something of a anime aficionado you see, and like any little boy, my mind had a tendency to wander. After that it wasn’t long before I moved into the erotica genre, after all, what is it a boy that age thinks about, and I have been in the genre ever since.

Although I’d never really thought about self-publishing, it occurred to me when I was 21 after running across the kindle section of Amazon and seeing how many short stories had been published and were selling. It was something of an eye-opener. Until then, I’d thought KDP was for novels. Shortly after, I wrote and published Sweet Temptations: The Babysitter. I’d thought that would be the hard part, but after publishing I came to realise it was only the beginning. Not only that, but I was woefully unprepared.

Would love to get to know you all, here are my social network and blog links, feel free to drop by and say hi
