Interview with Sheri Velarde:
Crystal: Today I have the pleasure of hosting Sheri Velarde. Welcome Sheri! I'm so happy to have you here today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?
Sheri: Hi everyone, my name is Sheri Velarde. I write primarily romance of all heat levels, though I have been expanding my writing horizons with some horror and fantasy pieces. I live in New Mexico with my husband and our two dogs. When I’m not working my day job or writing, I love to read, paint, watch movies, and exercise. Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?
Sheri: Well, my favorite scene from Mikhail’s American Adventure is pretty steamy, so I will share another favorite that shows the connection between family.
Upon seeing his brother and his new bride standing and waiting in the airport, he rushed to them and enveloped them in a great big embrace. He missed Alexander more than he would ever admit out loud. Men in their family didn’t show much emotion. He and his brother had always been the exceptions, but Mikhail still held so much in.
“Can’t breathe,” Anna, his sister-in-law, squeaked. Her voice broke Mikhail’s train of thought, and he lessened the pressure, so she could continue. “Just because you are a bear, doesn’t mean you have to give bone crushing bear hugs.”
Laughing, Mikhail squeezed hard before letting them go. “That is exactly what it means. Didn’t Alexander explain that to you? You really should have done more research before shacking up with this guy.”
Anna rolled her eyes, mumbling something about “obnoxious Russians” under her breath. Alexander, on the other hand, just laughed, embracing Mikhail again and giving his own bear hug. “Good to see you brother! It has been too long. We have not seen you since the wedding.”
“I don’t know if you know this, but these airplane things fly both ways. You need to come home and visit soon. Mother and Father miss you. Not to mention the clan wants to meet your witchy wife and small one. Speaking of, where is the little one? I can’t wait to meet her.”
“She is with my friends, Rachel and Kevin. Remember them?” Anna answered, before lowering her voice. “She sometimes gets overexcited in big crowds and cannot control her powers yet, so we are careful about where we take our little Natalia.”
“A trouble maker like her father? Mother and Father could never take Alexander anywhere either, still can’t but for different reasons.” Mikhail laughed as they headed out of the airport.
Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for your latest release?
Sheri: Mikhail’s American Adventure stemmed from my hot holiday themed romance, Not So Silent Night. Mikhail is mentioned in that book and I thought it was time to revisit my werebears. This is just a very naughty short that will lead Mikhail to his own book very soon!
Crystal: What are you currently working on?
Sheri: Right now I am working an epic fantasy piece, with two strong female leads. I am also working a very steamy m/m hockey romance and my next romantic fantasy novel, Quest for Self. Always busy!
Crystal: Do you have any special routine that you follow when you are writing?
Sheri: Not really, with working a day job, trying to stay healthy despite some health issues, spending time with family and taking care of my household, I basically write when I have time. Some days I write in the mornings, but often I find the most time at night, which works out well since I feel more creative at night as well.
Crystal: Did you have to do a lot of research for this book or any other? If so do you have a fascinating fact that you have learned you would like to share with us?
Sheri: I didn’t really have to research this story too much. All the research on werebears had been done for Not So Silent Night and I have personally spent time in Washington, DC, so that was an excellent setting for my piece. I did do some research on private sex clubs, though of course I took liberty with what goes on there with my story. I don’t know if I can share any of that research without making myself and others blush, but suffice it to say some steamy things happen at private clubs!
Crystal: Who are some of your favorite authors that you like to read?
Sheri: Lately I have been pretty obsessed with Joe Hill, but I have finished all of his work. I also like to read his dad, Stephen King. I have also been on a YA reading binge of late. Then of course I love JK Rowling, the Harry Potter books are my feel good books. Every year I reread the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I also try to find new indie authors and read as many of them as I can.
Crystal: Is there a genre you haven't written that you would like to try?
Sheri: I already dabble in a lot of genres. I have written all manner of romance, from erotica to romantic fantasy, I have tried my hand at horror and fantasy. I would really like to try some science fiction, maybe some historical romance, and I really want to try to write some steampunk one of these days.

About the Authors:
Candi Fox:
Candi Fox, co-host of the wildly popular radio show Candi and Company with over 900 thousand listeners began her venture in the paranormal at the tender age of two, when she witnessed her first apparition. From that moment on the paranormal seemed to follow her. No matter where she moved, the house she lived in the house next door, or the house down the street always seemed to be haunted.
