Are you looking for that great Summer time read? I have the book for you! I just finished reading Summer on Firefly Lake by Jen Gilroy. This is the second book in the Firefly Lake series and it's just as fabulous as the first book.
Mia Gibbs has spent her life doing what someone else thought was the "right" thing for her to do. Mia is such a strong lady and a wonderful mother that is working on finding her way through life as she wants to live it. I so admired this lady. She has been through so much and and she's doing her very best to handle everything.
Nick McGuire is back in his home town to take care of a few things for his mother that recently suffered a stroke. He's a sweet caring person that is trying to do what he thinks is best for his Mom. He hires Mia to help out with things for his Mom. While Mia is helping his Mom she spends more and more time with Nick. The more time they spend together and get to know each other more that attraction that's been there since high school grows. I really enjoyed watching Mia and Nick get to know each other again. There are many obstacles that these two are going to have to hurdle in order to have their chance at a happily ever after.
Mia's daughters return after visiting with their father. The drama here is that the ex-husband has brought the girls home to Mia. This guy is something else. He brings drama to Mia's life that she sure doesn't need.
I love family interaction and there is nice amount of family interaction. With Nick's Mom, Mia's sister and her daughters there is a lovely amount of family drama and support when needed. It was great to see Charlie and Sean again and see how things were going for them.
Over all this is a fabulous story! I have added Ms. Gilroy to my must read list. She does a wonderful job with a story that is entertaining and characters that are easy to bond with. I will be looking forward to her next book. I'm sure it will be just as fabulous as the first two.
