 REASON TO WED
Book Seven, Distinguished Rogues Series
by Heather Boyd

Release Date: December 8, 2015

Richard Hill, the Earl of Windermere, might desperately require a wife and heir, but thoughts of duty fly from his mind when he rescues Esme, Lady Heathcote, from the embarrassment of a failed affair. They usually never agree about anything. He’s never even kissed the vexing widow. But when the opportunity arises to whisk her away for a no-strings-attached rendezvous, Richard can’t imagine a better way to spend a moonlit evening.

Esme has never lacked for admirers, but having Lord Windermere’s company goes a long way to ease the pain of losing her suddenly betrothed lover. And when Windermere suggests an affair, Esme is intrigued by the blazing-hot connection even while knowing their relationship has no future beyond his house party.

But as with any temptation, it’s a bargain they’ll soon regret.

The hallway beyond the drawing room was filled to bursting with chattering guests and she moved smoothly through them, nodding and speaking occasionally to some. While she admired the elegance and comforts to be found in Lord Windermere’s home, she kept her eye out for Meriwether. She turned into the library, but the room was startlingly empty.

“Looking for me?” Windermere asked as he came to stand near. His gaze raked her from head to toe in the most gauche way.

Arrogant and presumptuous. “Hardly. You should pay more attention to your guests and the health of your servants.”

Instead of taking the hint that she wasn’t in the mood to talk, he caught her hand and raised it to his lips. His blue eyes danced with amusement. “I do love when you’re friendly. How have you been, Esme?”

She scowled at him and withdrew her hand to her side. “I’ve not given you leave to use my first name and I am not of a mood to spar with you. Go back to your other guests for amusement and send your butler to his bed. Anyone can see he’s on the verge of collapse tonight.”

“I already banished Oswin to rest.” He laughed suddenly. “Young Pip has assumed his duties until Collins comes up.”

“Just as well,” she replied, thankful for such sensible decisions at last.

“Only you would ever dare tell me what to do in my own home. I wanted to thank you for coming,” Windermere murmured. “But to convince everyone we’re not at odds, you will have to talk to me occasionally with a little less acid in your tone.”

“We’ve spoken as much as needed to quell any gossip.” She smiled at him. “Or was it your wish to have me chivvy you out of your mopes too.”

“I will say again you were right.” Windermere sighed and raked a hand through his dark, wavy hair. “You’re enjoying rubbing my nose in that business with Lady Bartlett, aren’t you?”

“Perhaps.” She smothered a laugh. He hadn’t wanted to believe he was being used until it was almost too late to extract himself from the connection. “You were so indignant that day, and after venting your pique at me, you charged down the street—on foot of all things, my man and your horse trailing after. I laughed for at least a whole day afterward. But I am sorry you were let down.”

He inhaled sharply, his jaw clenching before he relaxed and shook his head. “No, you’re not. You’re positively gloating that you were proved right about her.”Links

#Review - Reason to Wed By Heather Boyd ~ The Distinguished Rogues

As some of you may know I completely adore Heather Boyd's books. I've loved every one of her books that I have read and tend to devour them in hours. This lady has a talent writing historical regency era romances that is just unbelievably awesome. Reason to Wed may have just jumped to first place in my favorite Heather Boyd book list.

I have to admit I could not wait to get my hands on this book. I have been looking forward to hearing more about Esme since An Improper Proposal. Esme is not the typical heroine. She's a touch older than the usual heroine, she's a widow, and she likes to explore her sexual appetite. She is an independent strong willed lady with charisma and charm that is all her own. Her relationship with Richard Hill, the Earl of Windermere is bump at the best. These two have a way of setting each other off and at first it's not in the good way. The sparks of frustration accidentally turn in to sparks of passion.

Richard Hill, the Earl of Windermere  is handsome, charming, and if you ask Esme a little on the conceited side. His goal for the season is to find a wife that can quickly produce an heir. However when sparks fly with Esme he puts finding a proper wife to bare his children on hold. He and Esme have a smoldering, steaming, hot relationship that is totally unexpected to both of them.

I really enjoyed reading about Esme and Richard. Their story is full of chemistry, hot and steamy scenes. plenty of emotion (grab some Kleenex, you may find a few tears streaming down your cheeks), drama, and circumstances that try to stand in their way of happily ever after together.

Overall this is one fabulous story that is well written with incredibly interesting characters that kept me spellbound from page one all the way through to the last page. This is part of The Distinguished Rogues Series but will stand alone just fine. If you have read An improper Proposal you will enjoy catching up with Esme and Richard again. You will not be missing anything pertinent if you haven't read the previous books. They are really good reads though so you may want to grab them up now too!

Reason to Wed is the perfect book to warm up a cold winter evening. Grab your copy, find a comfy place to read, and get ready to devour a wonderful historical romance in the style that only Heather Boyd can provide.

Normally you really should not judge a book by it's cover but this cover is on the spot. The couple have that smoldering hot look that perfectly fit Esme and Richard. When the cover is just as awesome as the story inside I figure it's OK to judge the book by the cover then.

I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Reason to Wed.

 MISS MERTON'S LAST HOPE
Miss Mayhem Series, Book Three
 by Heather Boyd

Excerpt:
Valentine rubbed his hands together briskly. “All I need next is to see my sister happily married.”
Walter nodded, as he was expected to do when the subject of marrying sisters off came up in conversation. His own sister had married a neighbor and friend so he had plenty of experience in this field.
He considered the lady under discussion. She was lovely in her own way, tall, perfect complexion, a beauty, but she wasn’t the least bit approachable. “A tricky proposition, in your case. How many proposals has she turned down?”
“Oh, eleven, I think it is.”
Walter grunted, surprised by the number. He’d only heard of a handful of local beaus who had been turned down. “That many?”
“Be a friend and don’t spread that about. I’m still hoping for one more who might be acceptable before we get to unlucky number thirteen.”
Walter shook his head, unable to fathom why Miss Melanie Merton was so damn particular about choosing a husband. He was acquainted with a few of her former suitors and they were all quite decent sorts and intelligent enough to please even her father. None had possessed a great fortune or a title. “Maybe number twelve will suit.”

Blurb:

MMLH_DC200Over the years, Melanie Merton has used every trick and ruse to repel overeager gentlemen callers without ever revealing the real reason she won’t say yes to an offer of marriage. When neighbor Walter George jumps to her defense against slurs cast by suitor number twelve, he also pries into her past—uncovering the circumstances around a tragic loss in her childhood and her aversion to being touched by anyone. But even protective Walter must be kept at a distance for his own good, because despite a growing attraction between them, Melanie must deny him too.

Unlike other men his age in Brighton, Walter George hadn’t considered Melanie Merton for a wife because he was convinced he’d never have a chance to impress his haughty neighbor. But that was before he understood her better, before he uncovered why she kept friends and suitors alike at bay. The right husband could restore the woman he sees into some semblance of the fun-loving child of his memory, but would Walter stand a chance or become just another unlucky suitor?

Melanie Merton hated her life. She hated the clothes she wore. The house she lived in that was no longer hers to manage. The smiles she had to bestow upon her brother’s friends while overlooking their scowls. Even without the responsibilities she’d always enjoyed, and the hours on her own, she never had a moment’s peace. She just wanted a quiet morning, and that never seemed to happen lately unless she confined herself to her bedchamber.

Today, she was entertaining Mr. Linus Radley until his sister, Julia, her new sister-in-law, came down that morning. The forms of proper behavior that had been drilled into her head since she was a young girl made it impossible for her to say what was really on her mind, even when she wanted to. She was too polite to ask Mr. Radley to go away until a more reasonable hour of the day, and had ordered tea and cake to fill the endless minutes until Julia relieved her of this duty.

“It looks to be a lovely day for a stroll,” Mr. Radley said suddenly. “Might I entice you to venture out with me to look upon the sea? With your maid, of course.”

Melanie sighed with what she hoped sounded like regret and not irritation. She would not go out walking with Linus Radley, with or without a suitable chaperone. She had seen enough of him in the past weeks not to want anything more to do with him than she absolutely had to. He was a bully. “Unfortunately, I am otherwise engaged today.”

“Oh?”

Dear God, the man wants particulars.

Miss Merton's Last Hope by Heather Boyd ~ Miss Mayhem #4 ~ Review

I have to be completely honest with you all. At the beginning of the Miss Mayhem series I did not like Melanie Merton at all. I thought she was a rude interfering snob that really needed to mind her own business. I may have had the urge to slap this young lady a time or two. Now after reading Miss Merton's Last Hope, I feel horrible that had those terrible feelings for this troubled young lady. If I were to issue an award to the book that most changed my opinion of a character it would be Miss Merton's Last Hope.

Melanie Merton experienced something in her past that explains a lot of things. I found it amazing how a few little details could so completely change my opinion. Melanie suffered a dramatic event that left her with a lot of emotional scars. No one, that is until Walter George, understood why Melanie acted the way she did. I honestly bonded with Miss Merton in this book. Under that tough exterior and sometimes harsh words laid the heart of a kind and loving soul. WHO KNEW?!? I certainly did not expect it.

Walter George is a kind, caring gentleman that uses his wealth for good. He is behind a lot of good deeds. He is protective of those he cares about and is a good friend.

Melanie finds herself attracted to her brother's dear friend and neighbor. However she is determined not to marry. She has turned down many and do mean many of suitors that have asked for her hand in marriage.  Melanie has her reasons but she doesn't wish to disclose them to just anyone.

Walter and Melanie both have deep feelings for each other. They have known each other since childhood There has been a spark of attraction that just can not be ignored no matter how much they try.

I don't want to tell you too much about this intriguing ending to the Miss Mayhem series. If you have read any of the previous books in the series then you really need to read Miss Merton's story. If you haven't read the previous books in the series, never fear, each of the Miss Mayhem stories will stand alone just fine. You may want to grab them all though. They are terribly addictive and easily devoured in a short amount of time.

I have a deep affection for Heather Boyd's historical romances. This talented author has yet again written a deeply moving story with passionate characters that kept me entertained and made my kindle sizzle. I found myself completely engrossed in Miss Merton's story. With each twist that was unveiled I flipped the pages faster to see what could possible happen next. I was so completely captivated that I reached the end before I knew it. That is when the sad reality hit. This was it, this is the last chapter in the Miss Mayhem series. My beloved friends have all had their stories told and now are on with their lives. My only hope is that maybe a character or two will find their way into another one of Ms. Boyd's wonderful stories.

I will be anxiously awaiting the release of Ms. Boyd's next release. Her books are always on the top of my must have and must have now list.

I was given the opportunity to read this great book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Miss Merton's Last Hope.

Miss Radley's Third Dare by Heather Boyd ~ Miss Mayhem #3 ~ REVIEW

Are you looking for a fun sizzling hot historical romance to enjoy this summer? Oh my do I have a recommendation for you. Miss Radley's Third Dare may just be what  you are looking for. I know I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Miss Julia Radley is one of those character that I just couldn't help but adore right away. This lady has a way of getting into mischief without really trying. She is a little daring, loves a great adventure, and really doesn't give a hoot what society says is fitting for a lady. She strong and independent and loves to push the edges of priority just a little bit.

Valentine Merton has dreams of his own that he wants to pursue much to his family's dismay. He's facing some wrath from society for his part in Miss Radley's Dare to race each other in a swimming contest. Valentine has a sweet side that is way to charming not to fall for. What I found the most attractive about him is the support he has for Miss Radley.

These two are a great match and a whole lot of fun to watch has their relationship changes. They already have a nice base of friendship even though there is a slight bit of friction to begin with. Both Julie and Valentine have strong independent natures. They both have dreams that are not at all what their family sees fitting for them. However they are both determined individuals that are set to try to do what they want.

The attraction between Julia and Valentine is smoldering hot with the possibility to explode at any moment. The touch of friction in their relationship only adds to their attraction for each other.

This is the third book in the Miss Mayhem series. If you haven't had a chance to read Miss Watson's First Scandal or Miss George's Second Chance, don't worry, Miss Radley will stand alone just fine. However if you may want to pick up the first two books in the series as well because they are just as awesome as Miss Radley's Third Dare. If you are like me and have read the previous two books then you will find a few friends make an appearance in this story.

Overall Miss Radley's Third Dare is a great friends to more story, with a bit of drama, a steamy scene or two, a few really sweet romantic moments, adventure, and charismatic characters.  Heather Boyd has a way with words that always has me engrossed in the story from the first page all the way to the end. Then once I reach the end I can't wait to get my hands on her next release. I can't wait to see what Miss Boyd has in store for the next book in this series. I am sure it will be wonderful. I am already impatiently awaiting it's release.

I was given the opportunity to read this fabulous story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Miss Radley's Third Dare.
