#GiveAway ~ #Review ~ COMEBACK COWBOY By Sara Richardson ~ @SaraR_Books

Series: Rocky Mountain Riders, #2
By Sara Richardson

I found Sara Richardson with the first book in this series. I was an instant fan. This talented lady sure does know how to write a good cowboy story.

Naomi Sullivan is a good mother, a hard worker, independent, smart,  and about to embark on her long awaited journey. She is about to purchase a large house and turn it into a bed and breakfast. I found an instant connection to Naomi and her sweet, charming little girl Gracie. Speaking of Gracie oh this little girl is so cute, so smart, and really adds to the storyline. She is just plain adorable!

Lucas Cortez hasn't had an easy life. I don't want to tell you too much about this. I will say that he took on something to protect one of his brothers and it is a big thing! Lucas is handsome, kind, smart, and still has deep feelings for his high school sweetheart Naomi.  The town isn't easy on Lucas and they still hold something against him.  So being home is a little tough for Lucas.

Naomi and Lucas both still have those feelings of love and attraction that was so strong in high school. They both try to fight their feelings for each other but it's impossible. The attraction is just way too strong. I loved watching these two get to know each other again. I loved the time they spend with Gracie and the interaction with Lucas' family.

Lucas and Naomi have a lot of things that they are going to have to work through if they are even thinking of trying for that happily ever after. There are many obstacles in their way.

I just LOVED this story. I have quickly fallen for Sara Richardson's writing voice.  She has included all those things that I love in a good story. There is the family connections and interactions, cowboys (who doesn't love a handsome cowboy with that good ole boy attitude and manners), there is the awesome interaction with Gracie and everything that she brings to the story line, there is drama, suspense, romance, and that first love connection. Overall this is just a wonderful book.

If you love a good cowboy story then you really need to grab up Comeback Cowboy. This is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Riders Series. It will stand on it's own just fine though if you are starting with this book. However, Hometown Cowboy is pretty awesome so you may want to pick that one up while your shopping.

I was given the opportunity to read this fabulous story and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

You may find more of my thoughts on Sara Richardson's other work here

As a single mother, Naomi Sullivan is used to doing things on her own. She's finally saved enough from working at the Cortez Ranch to buy a lovely home for her and her little girl. Life is going as planned. But when her high school sweetheart comes riding back to town, this self-sufficient woman feels something she hasn't felt in years: red-hot, unbridled need for the handsome cowboy who left her behind.

Lucas Cortez doesn't plan on being in town long. Yet when he sees Naomi again—the gorgeous girl he never stopped loving—he's tempted to hang up his hat and stay awhile. He's already charmed his way into her daughter's heart, but he'll need more than sweet talk and roses to convince Naomi to give them a second chance-especially when she's hiding a secret that could change their lives forever…

A yellow Volkswagen Beetle blitzed toward Lucas, picking up speed. Yep, he’d know that car anywhere. Naomi.
He watched her draw closer and closer, and just like it always did when Naomi got near, his heart picked up. Would she stop and give him a lift to the ranch? They hadn’t exactly been alone since he’d come back to Topaz Falls. She’d made sure of that.
As the yellow car sped around the curve, he lifted a hand to flag her down, but the car didn’t slow. Maybe she hadn’t seen him. Waving his arms, he stepped onto the shoulder…
Shit! The car was coming right for him! Adrenaline fired through him and sent him rolling into the ditch just as the car’s brakes screeched. The thing skidded and fish tailed, likely taking out half of the tires’ tread.
Breathing in the scent of burnt rubber, Lucas stared up at the sky. Well, that’d been one hell of a close shave.
The car door opened and out Naomi flew, stumbling down the embankment in her polished red heels, to where he lay on the ground.
“God, Lucas. I was so distracted I didn’t even see you.” Her delicate hands covered her face. “My god, I almost hit you.” She staggered a few steps.
That got him off the ground. “Hey.” He hurried over to her, brushing the gravel off his ass. “I’m fine.” He’d been through a hell of a lot worse than a tumble down into a ditch. “See. No blood. I’m good.”
She nodded, but seemed to be on the verge of hyperventilating. Which meant she was in no condition to get behind the wheel of that car.
“Why don’t I drive you back to the ranch?” He slipped an arm around her waist to support her, and he couldn’t resist drawing her close to him, closer than she’d been in ten long years. She still smelled like carefree summer afternoons—a subtle hint of lemon along with the coconut oil she used to use to soften her hands. That scent, the feel of her leaning into his body, roused a sudden overpowering greed. He’d never hungered as desperately for something as he hungered for her. To turn her fully to him. To feel those breasts he used to kiss so intimately against his own chest again. He knew that body, remembered every curve and bend, every fine detail…
“I’m okay,” Naomi whispered, shaking him off. “I can walk.”
Of course she could. But she did hand him the keys before hurrying to climb into the passenger’s seat without his assistance.
Lucas folded himself into the driver’s seat. “All right, then. We’re off.” He started the engine and backed up, then turned carefully out onto the highway.
He stole a glance at Naomi. Her soft lips twitched as he studied her. It wasn’t her full, bright, beautiful smile.
But it was a start.

Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders.

Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction. Now she uses her experience as a mountain adventure guide to write stories that incorporate adventure with romance. Still indulging her adventurous spirit, Sara lives and plays in Colorado with her saint of a husband and two young sons.

#Review #Giveaway ~ THE HIGHLAND COMMANDER By Amy Jarecki ~ @amyjarecki

Series: Lords of the Highlands, #2
By Amy Jarecki

The Highland Commander is the second book I have had the chance to read by Amy Jarecki. I have had the pleasure to read both books in the Lords of the Highlands series and they are AWESOME! I was hooked on this book from the first page and I couldn't put it down.

Lady Magdalen Keith may not be a legitimate daughter but she is a loyal daughter to her Dad, a Scottish earl. This lady impressed me with her actions and determination. She strong, maybe a touch stubborn, smart, and creative. This poor young lady ends up in some horrible situations that just broke my heart.

Navy lieutenant Aiden Murray had no clue he was going to fall for this captivating young lady at the ball the Navy men were invitated to attend. He thinks of her often and is so surprised when they meet up again. Aiden is one of those guys that I would want in my corner if I was in trouble. Not only is this guy handsome, he is smart, creative, and brave as all get out.

I so enjoyed watching these two get to know each other through very interesting circumstances. They work well together and they play well together. They are a great match. There are so MANY things that stand in their way of being together though. Each time they are seperated they don't know if they will ever see each other again. There are so really heartbreaking and heart touching moments in this book.

There is a LOT of drama and suspense, mystery, intrigue, family drama, family interaction, and romance. The romance is sweet and steamy, a nice mix.

There is a lot that happens in this book but I don't want to tell you too much. I wouldn't want to spoil any of this fantastic story for you. This is part of the Lords of the Highlands series but it will stand on it's own just fine. The other book in this series is pretty awesome though. So you may want to grab both of them while you are picking this one up. If you enjoy awesome highlander stories then you really need grab up The Highland Commander. I certainly enjoyed this great book and I think you will too.

I was given the opportunity to read this fabulous book and it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

She cannot resist the man behind the mask...

As the illegitimate daughter of a Scottish earl, Lady Magdalen Keith is not one to partake in lavish balls or other frivolities. Yet at her father's urging, she agrees to dance with the battle-weary officers at this year's holiday masquerade. It's practically her civic duty! But when one such officer—whose dashing good looks cannot be disguised by a mere mask—sweeps her off her feet and into his arms, the innocent lass can't help herself. Her lips are his for the taking.

But will he betray his country for a kiss?

Navy lieutenant Aiden Murray has spent too many months at sea to be immune to the charms of this lovely beauty. Even after he returns to his ship, she lives in his dreams. But when he discovers Maddie's true identity—and learns that her father is accused of treason—will the brawny Scot risk his life to follow his heart?

As in the Highland custom, Aiden wore the plaid belted at his waist, the length pulled from the lower right opening of his doublet, around his back and pinned at his left shoulder with a silver brooch bearing the Atholl arms. The valet had put forth a good effort ensuring there was neither wrinkle nor hair out of place.
He regarded himself in the looking glass above the mantle in the drawing room, sliding one foot forward as he would do for a portrait. Not liking the image, he puffed out his chest and moved a hand to his lapel.
God’s bones, take me to sea where I can cast aside these frills.
Tuning his back to the looking glass, Aiden resorted to pacing and pulling out his pocket watch. The coach would arrive in five minutes, and Maddie hadn’t yet made an appearance.
At least a light glowed from beneath her door indicating she was within. It cast a hazy glow in the otherwise dark passageway. After pacing around the chamber half-dozen times, he again eyed his timepiece. Another minute had passed. Perhaps he should knock on the door—perhaps Maddie’s mantle clock had stopped and she was unaware of the time. Just as he started off, her door opened. A burst of light flooded the passageway, and with the tap of dainty footsteps, an angel emerged.
Aiden knew she’d purchased a new gown, but he hadn’t expected this. His mouth went dry and he suddenly needed to take in two stuttered breaths to steady the thumping of his heart.
Christ, men aren’t supposed to experience such heart hammering. Especially men bred for the sea. Damnation.
She smiled, and his goddamned knees wobbled. He should have taken a healthy tot whilst he was pacing in the drawing room.
Her golden gown rustled as she walked forward, with a matching fan in her hand. She moved the fan to her waist…just below her breasts. Creamy skin Aiden knew to be softer than spun silk swelled above a dangerously plunging neckline. His mouth went completely dry. If Maddie’s serving maid had been anywhere but behind her lady, Aiden would have taken the lassie into his arms, pushed through his bedchamber door and damned the recital.
“I hope I haven’t made us late.” Maddie batted her eyelashes as if she had no idea of the effect she had on his aching cods. “Miss Agnes spent ever so long curling my hair.”
Aiden’s tongue slipped over his bottom lip. “Your curls are exquisite. You are exquisite, m’lady.”
Agnes cleared her throat, coming up behind with a cloak over her arm. “You’d best say so, m’lord. It took the greater part of the afternoon to make those ringlets.”
Nay, there’d be no slipping into the bedchamber for a hasty sampling of those pearl-tipped bosoms.
Aiden glanced to his pocket watch—they still had a few minutes—and now that he knew Maddie was ready, there’d be no harm in making the coach wait for a minute or two. “Fine job, Miss Agnes,” he said with more sobriety than he felt. “I think you deserve a healthy tot of fine spirit for taking such fine care of her ladyship.”
“Have we time?” asked Maddie.
Aiden led them into the drawing room and gestured to the settee. “A stolen moment will not set us behind overmuch.”
Agnes gave a firm shake of her head. “You needn’t make a fuss for the likes of me.”
“It is no fuss. You take good care of your lady, and for that I want to thank you.” Aiden poured three tots of sherry and offered each of the ladies a glass. “Shall we drink to Miss Agnes?”
Blinking, the woman drew a hand over her mouth, dipping her head and smiling broadly. “Heavens.”
“Aye, we should.” Maddie patted her chambermaid’s knee and raised her glass. “To the woman who has seen me through one and twenty years of happiness. I have no idea what would have become of me if you hadn’t been by my side. Sometimes I’ve felt as if you’re the only person in all of Christendom who cares.”
Aiden’s gut twisted. He cared a great deal, but it was inconceivable that Maddie had been made to feel like an outcast from such a young age. He drank thoughtfully, watching the two women as they sipped. Even their mannerisms had become similar. “Miss Agnes, how long have you been serving Lady Magdalen?”
The woman’s eyes glistened with pride. “Since the day she was born. The moment I held her in my arms I knew my purpose.”
Aiden glanced to Maddie and knitted his brows. “Did your mother pass in childbirth?”
Shaking her head, the lass bit her bottom lip. “Nay. My mother knew I would have a better life if she gave me to my father. Only…” Maddie looked away, and took another sip.
“The one caveat was that she could never set eyes on me again.”
Grumbling under her breath, Agnes guzzled the remainder of her sherry. “We shan’t discuss the countess any longer. It sets both of our hackles to standing on end.”
“Agreed.” Aiden set his glass on the mantel and offered Maddie his hand. “Shall we be off, m’lady? We do not want to miss the opening. I hear it will be most spectacular.”
Maddie tapped the chambermaid’s shoulder before they strolled toward the door. “I want you to take some time for yourself this night. Do something that will make you happy. You have nothing to worry about, my pet. I’ll be in Lord Aiden’s capable hands.”

Valerie Carmichael needed a drink. A strong one. Because it was the only way she envisioned herself getting through the night.
An elbow nudged into her side, bringing her thoughts back to the crowded bar. “I can’t see anything through all of these people,” Brett said, scanning the room with his eyes. “Come on, let’s go to the other side so I can get a better view.”
Sighing, Valerie trudged behind him without a word.
When Brett had asked her to attend the grand opening of Bottoms Up, a new bar in their hometown of Granite, Texas, she’d hesitated to say yes. Sure, she was curious what the inside of the recently remodeled bar looked like and had no doubt the place would be jam-packed with handsome, available men. But it was still the last place on earth she wanted to be.
She knew better than to hang out in bars with her older and only—thank God—brother. Every time she’d done so in the past, the nights had always ended the same way. Brett would spend the entire evening hovering over her like a rabid pit bull, daring any single guy with a glint in his eye to look her way. Because Valerie turned heads. She always had.
Oh, she wasn’t silly enough to believe she looked like some gorgeous supermodel with a lean, trim figure or anything. She definitely didn’t. But she had a pretty face, banging plus-size curves, and a lively personality. And that was good enough for her. Valerie was just…Valerie. And damn proud of it.
Across the room, Sam and Leah emerged from the dense crowd, with a beer bottle for him and a glass of water for her. Apparently, Leah was still on that damn diet and counting calories so she would fit into her wedding dress. Though why she didn’t just buy the dress in a larger size was beyond Valerie.
Leah blinked at the sight of her. “Val? What are you doing here? You said you weren’t coming.”
Valerie shrugged. “I changed my mind.”
“Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah, sure. Why?”
“When you said you didn’t want to go out, I assumed you were sick. You never turn down a night out.” Leah placed her palm lightly against Valerie’s forehead. “You sure you don’t have the flu or something?”
Valerie laughed and pushed her friend’s hand away. “Oh, stop it. I just didn’t feel like getting dressed up. I’m getting tired of the whole bar scene.”
Then Valerie’s heart stopped, along with her lips. Oh God.
Brett stood there talking to a tall, dark-haired man who had one thumb hooked in the front pocket of his jeans while he leaned comfortably against the wall with his right shoulder. She couldn’t see the other guy’s face, but she didn’t need to. Valerie recognized all six feet, two inches of him. Logan Mathis.

I stood there like a statue, my lungs burning from not releasing the air
I had trapped in them. When he didn’t continue, I prodded, “Yes?”
His shoulders shrugged, but his chin practically rested on his chest so
that I couldn’t see his face. Without answering, he spun around and pulled out
the bacon and eggs from the refrigerator, setting them gently on the counter.
With his back turned, I heard his soft reply, “I didn’t want to lose.”
What did that mean? I wasn’t trying to come between him and his mother. I
would never do that. Granted, their relationship left something to be
desired—not that I was an expert by any means—but she was still his parent, and
the only one he had left. “You aren’t going to lose your mom. I wasn’t trying—”
Whirling around quickly, his glare could melt the polar ice caps. “What
do you mean?”
Instinctively, I took a step backwards.
“Is there something going on with my mother?” He spat the last word as if
it left a foul taste in his mouth.
“No,” I spoke quickly. She would be one of the last people on earth I
would think about in any sense other than as his mother.
“Then what do you mean?” he demanded.
Fire and ice. One minute there was an unspoken awkward gap between us,
and the next the chasm opened and the switch was flipped. He went from hesitant
to furious before I batted an eye, and I was having hard time keeping up. His
chest heaved with the deep breaths he was taking and his face, which had a
slight flush to it, turned red. His jaw was clenched and his hands were fisted.
“What exactly are your intentions toward my mother?” he sneered.
His anger began to feed my own. How dare he accuse me of anything when he
hadn’t a single goddamn clue? Marching up to him, I pushed him against the
counter behind him, accidentally knocking off the carton of eggs and they fell
to the floor. “You don’t know anything,” I growled right before I pressed my
lips to his in a brutal kiss. His hands fisted in my shirt, and I couldn’t tell
if he was trying to push me away or pull me closer. I prayed for the latter.
Both of my hands were gripping his hips tightly. I moved one to his face,
using my fingers to put pressure on his chin, opening his mouth for a heavier
onslaught. My tongue plunged in, snaking around his, tasting him.
His wrestled with mine for control. It was an aphrodisiac.
And then a bird squawked, a car alarm blared…our bubble was broken.
I let him go quickly, stumbling backwards with wide eyes and a racing
heart. His eyes were also wide with shock, and his mouth looked red and raw
from my beard. He had been thoroughly kissed and I craved more of him. Instead
of going to him though, I apologized, “Sorry,” and then hightailed it out of
the house. I couldn’t believe I’d done that.
Jumping into my car, I ran away like Josh had done multiple times. For me
though, I was pretty sure if I hadn’t left, he would have kicked me out.

What the fuck just happened? Had I dreamed that? Sam kissed me. I
couldn’t believe it. Sam really kissed me.
Slowly, I brought my hand to my face and felt the skin around my mouth
that had been scraped by his beard, and I could feel the smile curling my lips
upward. He’d kissed me, and as soon as I felt his lips press against mine, the
sky opened up and I heard the angels singing. Well, maybe not that dramatic,
but something like that. The ground beneath me shifted and my life, my whole
world, came into complete focus.
Kissing him, his arms gripping me, had filled a void within me. The same
void that had opened up the day I laid eyes on Sam. I’d tried to fill that
space with others, and when I couldn’t, a couple of fuck buddies helped to
distract me and scratch an itch. But two minutes with him, did what no one else
could do. I felt whole.
At least until the moment he left me standing in the kitchen alone and
reeling from the best kiss I’d ever experienced.
A new determination burned within me. Samuel Cayden would be mine. I’d
find a way to win him and prove that no one else could ever compare.

I’ve always loved books. Not only creating stories but reading them as well. Books transport me, and when I was younger, I would run into walls because I refused to put my books down even for a second. Take not, walking while reading is not advised. LOL.

With my books, I dream of sharing my stories with the world. I want others to be transported or to feel the emotions my characters feel. That is my goal. If I can do that for one person, I succeeded.

About the book:

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Liliana Hart’s second book in her sexy, suspenseful Gravediggers series, GONE TO DUST, features an elite group of mysterious men who might be dead to the world, but are also tasked with saving it—and no one can ever know.

The Gravediggers aren’t exactly what they seem. They’re the most elite of the world’s fighting forces—and all they have in common is that they’ve been betrayed by the countries they’ve died for. Because they are dead. To their country, their military, and their families. Sometimes the dead do rise…

Miller Darling is one of the most popular romance novelists of her time. Not bad for a woman who doesn’t believe in romance. She’s as logical as they come, and she doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters. What she does believe in is family, so when her brother disappears, she doesn’t think twice about packing her bag and her laptop and heading out to find him.

Elias Cole lived and breathed the live of a Navy SEAL. Now he’s “dead” and his hero’s honor tarnished. The only thing keeping him sane are the men who are like him—The Gravediggers—and the woman who makes his head spin. He’s never met anyone like Miller Darling. Her smart mouth and quick wit keep him on his toes, and damned if he doesn’t find that appealing.

When Miller receives a package from the brother who abandoned her asking for help, it’s clear she’s in over her head with the mess he’s gotten himself into. She needs a professional, and Elias is just the man for the job. Only her brother is a former SEAL—the man who left his team to die—and Elias is more interested in vengeance than saving his life.
