Interview with Mira Lyn Kelly:

Q: Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

A: Hi Crystal, thanks so much for having me! Okay, so I’m Mira Lyn Kelly…
write-at-home-mom to four wild and wonderful kids and one crazy cute pup named Pluto.
I’m married to my very own friends-to-lovers HEA and we all live in the middle of gorgeous Minnesota. I write the flirt, sizzle and fun and have a new book--
THE WEDDING DATE BARGAIN (The Wedding Date, #2)-- out June 6th. YAY!!

Q: What are you currently working on?

A: I’m just wrapping up book four in the Wedding Date series. It’s Brody’s book and
so much fun finally giving one of my favorite characters throughout the series his own HEA.
Going to be hard to say good-bye to these guys!!

Q: Where did you come up with the idea for your current release?

A:When I first started brainstorming my sexy lot of best men… I had an idea of what
kind of personality each one had. Max, the hero from THE WEDDING DATE BARGAIN,
was a bit of a bad boy but with a strict sense of right and wrong and a set of rules that
dictated most of his actions. So obviously, I needed to give him a girl who was going to mess
with all his good intentions.

With some books the idea is there from the start, sparked from some couple I passed on the
street, a line from a song, a cell phone commercial--but with others like Max’s book, I take a
pretty methodical approach and start asking myself a series of what if questions to get where
I need to go….

What if she’s the one that got away?
What if she’s still a virgin?
What if she thinks she’s not going to have to tell him?
*Cue Mira’s evil cackle* Little FYI for you, lol, brainstorming is lots of fun.

Q: Do you have a favorite snack that you like to munch on while writing?
If so, would you mind sharing what it is with us?

A: Oh this is terrible! I try so hard to be good and I manage it pretty well until I get to the
end of the book. And then suddenly I’m so deep in the whole clawing my way towards a
happily ever after that I lose track of all my real life good intentions and just give in to my
cravings… for excessive quantities of diet coke, trail mix and popped cheddar rice crisps…
and before you roll your eyes thinking rice crisps aren’t that bad, lol, I’m talking about
the whole bag. FOR SHAME MIRA!!

Q: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

A: Honestly I have a zillion favorite scenes and I HATE to pick favorites, lol!! But I do kind
of have a soft spot for this one where Sarah is desperately trying to convince Max she
isn’t the same innocent girl he rejected back in college. He wants to believe it, bad, lol.
And with ten years since the last time he forced himself to walk away, why wouldn’t
he…unless she gives too much away. Which is why she’s trying to keep things as simple
and straight-forward as possible. No time for detours or distractions—she’s all about
crossing the finish line.
So this scene picks up as Max has been kissing his way south…

>>>
Sarah nodded toward her panties where she could only guess he’d been headed.
“Uhh…I don’t really like that.”
“You don’t?” he asked slowly, something in the way he was looking at her making
her squirm.
“Come back up here.” Reaching for his head, she tried to urge him back.
He didn’t budge. “What do you like, Sarah?”
She swallowed, tensing at the edge of suspicion in his voice. “Everything else.”
“Yeah?”
She nodded, scrambling for something to say that would get them back on track.
Something she’d read, maybe?
“I want you, Max. Inside me.” And that might have sounded a little more convincing
if her voice hadn’t cracked. “Hard and fast. That’s how I like it.” And as terrifying
as that prospect actually sounded, it was her best chance of Max not figuring out
she’d lied to him.
He nodded, his jaw softening.
Yes.
Relief flooded through her.
Max dropped a kiss on her stomach, light and small, and then crawled up her body.
His tuxedo pants were still buttoned, but his shirt hung open, showing off all those
bands and layers of solid-packed muscle. He was beautiful. A work of art.
The most handsome man she’d ever seen, and it was taking everything she had not to
cringe away as he stopped above her. Slowly he lowered his head, turning so the next
kiss he dropped was at her earlobe.
Then, quietly, he said, “Sarah, I really wanna be wrong about this, but I’m about
ninety-five percent sure you don’t know what you like.”
Her breath froze in her lungs, her muscles involuntarily locking where they were.
Max retreated just far enough so he could meet her eyes. With a harsh breath,
his head dropped. “How the hell are you still a virgin?”

Q: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

A: So with four kiddies ages 15, 14, 12 and 12…I spend a lot of time running someone
somewhere, lol! But when I’m not kicked back enjoying a little Hockey, Swimming,
Cross country, Track and Field, Golf, Robotics, Knowledge Bowl, Mathletics or Band… lol,
I love LOVE LoVe to read. It’s my favorite way to decompress after a crazy day of “I swear
I can get you there on time!” or disconnect when I’m so deep in my own story I can’t stop
thinking about it. I also like to bully my besties into reading my favorite books too and
then forcing them to discuss the best parts as they get to them, lol. Yeah, I know…I’m
THAT friend!

Q: Do you have a favorite background noise you like to having going while you
write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

A: Oooh I LOVE to write to silence, lol! So those precious school hours are when most
of the magic word making happens. But when silence is not an option *gives side-eye to summer break* I put on noise canceling headphones and let Adam Levine talk dirty in my ear… I mean I listen to a lot of Maroon 5 :-)
