INTERVIEW:

Crystal: Today as part of this Write Now Literary Virtual Book Tour, I have the opportunity to interview Paulette Harper.Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Paulette: Thanks Crystal for featuring me today.
I am an award winning author, writing coach, and speaker. I seek to inspire women from all walks of life.  As an inspirational and motivational speaker, my desire is to empower, influence and cultivate women to move forward so they can become all they are created to be.
I am a mother, grandmother, Bible teacher, writer and the owner of WNL Virtual Book Tours. I have been mentoring and teaching women for years though seminars, workshops and conferences. I have two beautiful daughters and two gorgeous granddaughters who call me“MiMi.”

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Paulette:  Yes this scene is when Jordan life had just changed.

Her eyes filled with tears as the honks of other cars managed to interrupt her thoughts of the trauma she was now in.  She weaved in and out of the traffic, not knowing what direction her car was taking her. The whispers in her ears kept speaking louder and louder the more she drove. She steered her car until the weeping became so bad that she could not drive anymore. She pulled her car into the nearest lot and parked in the first available stall. Her body was shaking. She prayed that she would make it to Tiffany’s house in one piece.
She reached into the glove compartment and found some tissue to clean herself. Who was this woman Eric was seeing behind her back? She couldn’t imagine being married all this time and not knowing the double life her husband was living. She felt like a complete fool.
How did we get here? The question echoed through her head. As far as she was concerned, her life was going well. She had a great job and a great husband, so she thought.  She had a good church, wonderful friends and two beautiful kids. Now, with a snap of a finger, in a moment’s time, her life had changed.

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for Living Separate Lives?

Paulette: The idea behind Living Separate Lives came when I was reflecting on my own years in high school and the bond I had with my girlfriends. Our lives have gone in totally different directions, yet there is still a bond, a friendship, an eternal relationship that we still have with one another. The characters in Living Separate Lives can represent someone’s mother, sister, aunt or friend. I wanted to bring these women lives to reality.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

Paulette: I’m currently working on another novella that will be released in early 2014.

Crystal: Do you have any special routine that you follow when you are writing?

Paulette: I don’t have any particular routine. When I’m writing I need complete silence. There can be no interruptions with any form of sound. I find that I’m able to write better when my mind is not pulled away by distractions (radio, TV.)

Crystal: Did you have to do a lot of research this book or any other?

Paulette: No research was required for this book. I looked at the lives of others and life experiences that gave me the inspiration to write Living Separate Lives.

Crystal: Who are some of your favorite authors that you like to read?

Paulette: Some of my favorite authors are: Joyce Meyers, Joel Osteen,  T.D. Jakes, Michelle Stimpson and Vanessa Miller.

Crystal: Is there a genre you haven't written that you would like to try?

Paulette:  Right now I’m getting my feet wet by writing fiction. Living Separate Lives is only my second fiction book. I’m still learning and honing my skills as a fiction writer. My other books are Christian non-fiction, inspirational. Crossing over to write Christian fiction has been quite a learning experience.
