INTERVIEW:

Crystal: Today I am so honored to Welcome Heather Boyd. As some of you know I just adore this lady and her work. So Don't mind my excitement as I say WELCOME Heather! I'm so very happy to have you visit today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Heather: Hello Crystal and friends. Thanks so much for having me visit. For those who don’t know me, I’m Heather Boyd. Wife. Mum. Cat slave. Australian. I have 8 rules I live my life by. Here’s the essential half: Don’t visit a dentist that’s stingy with painkillers, avoid lying but keep secrets, perform random acts of kindness, don’t drink anything while critiquing for other authors—especially stories by Samantha Grace. She’s got a wicked sense of humor.

Did I mention I love writing? I write regency historical romance stories--novels, novellas, short stories--that are likely to melt your e-reader at times. Every character deserves a happy ever after and I’m writing my stories as fast as I can.

Crystal: Do you do anything special celebrate the release of a new book?

Heather: Nothing too spectacular. I tend to clear my office desk of clutter, have a nice dinner with the family, and try not to worry if the book is loved or not. (That’s actually hard to do) I try to keep busy with other things.

Crystal: What is your favorite snack to munch on while you write?

Heather: Red Frogs – a tuck shop treat dating back to my childhood – goes really well with my intravenous caffeine drip. Just kidding about the drip, but let me know if someone invents one. I stroll into the kitchen for new coffee every hour or so. Natural Almonds are good to munch on too but its really easy to eat badly if my hubby has done the shopping.

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for your latest release?

Heather: Keepsake is the fifth book in the Distinguished Rogues series and it completes a plot line that was first mentioned in passing in Chills, Book 1 of the series. The hero and heroine of Keepsake were not your average couple. They are married but not happy to be married to each other for most of the story. That was challenging to fix but Miranda had very good reasons for the estrangement. A little about Keepsake:

A BATTLE OF WILLS…

When the Marquess of Taverham married at eighteen, he was certain his life would be smooth and well ordered—right up till the moment his exuberant bride ran away on their wedding night, never to be seen again. Ten years later, when Kit is finally prepared to set his rash marriage aside by having his wife declared dead, she makes a shocking return, still beautiful but distrustful, and once more throws his life off-balance by refusing to live with him and resume their marriage.

…A WAR OF PASSION

Despite some lingering attraction, Miranda Reed has no love left for the heartless rogue she married. Older and wiser, she refuses to be a convenient wife for a man who expects everything to be his way with no care for her feelings. Keeping her husband at arm’s length is essential; her secrets will bring him to his knees. But in a battle of wills where hope and trust are both the prize and the casualty of war, the victor isn’t always the winner. Sometimes it takes an act of rebellion to recapture a fragile love.

Crystal: Three (3) reasons to read Keepsake?

Heather:
1. The sex is hot! One of the things I love about writing romances is exploring the physical side of relationships.
2. Absence makes the heart grow fonder! **carriage wheels fall off** Well ok … maybe not at first in this story. Kit believes he’s entitled to pickup where he left off with Miranda (in bed together) and she’s not having any of that nonsense and attempts to keep him at arms length. It’s fun to watch their maneuvering.
3. Two stubborn people falling in love is a beautiful thing! This couple is combustible, their feelings mistaken for pure lust at first, so breaking down their long-held prejudices against each other makes for a vastly satisfying read.

Crystal: What are you working on now? Any chance you can tell us a little bit about it?

Heather: Aside from the Keepsake book release, I’m juggling a few projects right now – a new writing project and two novellas in revisions (Reason to Wed, Never a Gentleman). The new writing project will finish up the Hunt Club gay regency series. Once a Husband won’t publish until February sometime and it’s going to be hard to let go but its time.

Crystal: Do you have any hobbies that you enjoy doing when you are not busy writing fabulous books for us lucky readers?

Heather: I used to do a lot—gardening (or killing plants), sewing, tracing my family tree—but these days I’m either writing or thinking about writing so hammering out a raw first draft is probably as close as I get to a hobby these days. I may be a little obsessed, what writer isn’t, but it’s all for a good cause if I can entertain a reader and lure you all into my wicked regency world.

Thanks so much for having me back again!

REVIEW:

Heather Boyd has done it again! She has once again written another fabulous historical romance story that kept me completely spellbound throughout the whole story. Keepsake is a fabulous story that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what in the world could possibly happen next. As some of you may know I just absolutely adore Heather Boyd and her work. She writes fun and creative stories that I just can not put down.

I have to say I had an instant connection with Miranda Reed. I really liked this young lady. She is doing what is expected of her but she is hoping that she is marring a man that can love her. When she discovers something on her wedding night she disappears.

I have to say at first I did not like Kit, I thought he had completely taken advantage of a situation. However as the story went on I found that I really admired Kit and all he did to find his wife and all that he does to try to regain her trust. He really isn't the no good dirty rascal I thought he was to begin with.

When Miranda returns, she certainly does it in style and has society talking about it. I love this woman sense of humor and style. She has something that she needs to share with Kit but she has to find the special item first. Miranda ask for some help from her friends in finding the missing item. I was completely engrossed in this part of the story and could not wait to see how it would unfold.

I enjoyed watching Miranda and Kit get to know each other and this time really get to know each other. Unlike when they were to be married and things were run by his mother and friend.

There is an interesting twist that I did not see coming at all and it threw me for a loop but after the secret is revealed I have to say I wasn't all that surprised that this person was capable of the act.

Keepsake is full of drama, many twist and turns, a little mystery, some romance, some humor, and a few steamy scenes. What more could a girl ask for in a story?

Heather Boyd is one of my very favorite historical romance authors. She is the one responsible for me re finding my love for historical romance stories. I am always exciting when I hear she has a new book coming out. I can't wait to see what she may have in store for her next release. What ever it is, I will be anxiously awaiting it's release.

If you enjoy a fun historical romance with some drama and a little steam then you really should check out one of Heather Boyd's books. I have LOVED each book of hers I have had the delightful pleasure of reading.

This book is part of the Distinguished Rogues series, however it can easily be read as a stand alone. I don't think you would have any problems at all, if you have not read the previous books in the series.

I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Keepsake
