Interview with Kat Martin!

Crystal: Today I am so excited to host Kat Martin! Welcome Kat!!!! Thank you so much for visiting today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today? 

Kat: I consider myself fairly boring.  I work all the time, love writing and the solitude it provides.  I’m kind of a hermit, though I do love to travel.  I love fine hotels and gourmet food.  Fortunately, I have a husband who writes and also likes to travel.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

Kat:  I’m working on the final edits for my June book, Beyond Reason.  It’s the first book in my new Texas Trilogy.  A ruthless Texas drug lord wants to use Drake Trucking, a long-established, well-respected business now run by a woman named Carly Drake, as a cover for his nefarious plans.

    Multi-millionaire Lincoln Cain is determined to protect Carly.  He’s vowed to keep the promise he made to her grandfather, Joe Drake, the man responsible for helping him turn his life around after he was released from prison.

   It’s a high action thriller, a battle of wills as Carly is forced to stand up to Cain while the two of them battle the forces of evil and try to protect their hearts.   Thanks for asking!

Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for either your current release or your current WIP?

 

Kat: Since I have no idea what a WIP is, I’ll tell you that I got the idea for INTO THE FIRESTORM, Luke Brodie’s story, when I was writing INTO THE WHIRLWIND, about his best friend, Dirk Reynolds.  I knew the heroine was going to be a female bounty hunter, a woman who could give Luke a run for his money.  But I wanted her to be feminine, a woman who liked being a woman, so it was a fun combination of characters to write. 

Crystal: Do you have a favorite snack that like to munch on while writing? If so would you mind sharing what it is with us?

Kat: I love food.  BUT I don’t snack because I don’t want to gain weight.  Writing is such a sedentary job it is suicidal to eat while you’re working.  I save my calories for a glass of wine at the end of the day and a nice healthy supper.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Kat: I love the after-sex morning scene where Emma is sure she and Luke are over  --he has a rep as a one-night stand kind of guy.  Luke is trying to convince himself of that same thing, but it just doesn’t work--for either of them!  The hot interaction between the two of them was really fun to write.

Crystal: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

Kat: As I said, I love to travel, love staying in great hotels and eating in good restaurants.  I especially enjoy spending time in Europe.  My husband and I have traveled there extensively.  It’s always a wonderful trip.

Crystal: Do you have a favorite background noise you like to having going while you write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

Kat: My husband plays music while he writes.  He watches TV, constantly fills his office with sound.  I like solitude.  I want to be able to watch the book unfolding on the screen in my head.  Quiet is an aphrodisiac for the characters and me.
