Interview with Anna Durand:

Crystal: Today I have the pleasure of hosting  Anna Durand. Welcome Anna! I'm so thrilled you are here to visit with us today. Would you share a little bit about yourself with us today?

Anna: Besides being a writer, I'm also a librarian with a master's degree and the owner of a cataloging services company. I've become addicted to audiobooks and can't go to sleep at night without listening to another chapter before bed.

Crystal: What are you currently working on?

Anna: Several things--which is normal for me. I don't consider it multi-tasking, but I like to have multiple fires burning so I can switch back and forth depending on my mood. I'm working on book two in the Hot Scots series, Wicked in a Kilt, and the third book in my Psychic Crossroads series, Kinetic. I'm also finishing up final editing on another erotic romance, Fired Up, and a paranormal romance, The Mortal Falls.
Crystal: Where did you come up with the idea for either your current release or your current WIP?

Anna: Dangerous in a Kilt emerged out of my long-time interest in all things Scottish. I began research for a historical romance set in Scotland, but I grew restless to craft my first hot Scot hero, so while I continued the research I dived into writing a contemporary story with a Highlander hero. Thus, Dangerous in a Kilt was born. Crystal: Do you have a favorite snack that like to munch on while writing? If so would you mind sharing what it is with us?

Anna: I love honey roasted cashews and Dr. Pepper. Mmm...yummy!
Crystal: Do you have a favorite scene you would like to share with us?

Anna: I loved writing every scene in Dangerous in a Kilt, but my favorite one comes near the end (I played the song "Flight" by Lifehouse over and over while writing that scene). Since I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, I'll share my second favorite scene! It's from chapter five, and it gets very sexy after this excerpt. Let me just say this--brownies can be erotic.

-----

Shoulders back, I slanted my head back to look at him. "I talked to Gil. He sent me a photo of you and him together, so I know you're who you say you are." I pointed at the bag hooked over my shoulder. The rectangular baking dish pooched out the bag's sides. "Besides, I brought you a housewarming slash thanks-for-scaring-the-bejesus-out-of-my-ex gift."

He ducked his head just enough to peek at me through thick, dark lashes. His laughter crinkled the skin around his eyes and dimpled his cheeks. "You checked me out, eh? Suppose after last night, I can't blame you for being suspicious. And I must admit, it's rather endearing." His gaze darted to the bag before settling on my eyes again. "You owe me no gifts for lending a hand, but I'll accept it as a housewarming present."

"Deal." I bit my lip. "May I come in?"

"Of course."

Casey, unable to contain his glee any longer, jumped up to plant his paws on Lachlan's stomach. The Highlander knelt to scratch the dog's ears. My canine companion chuffed with joy. If Lachlan whispered into my ears while petting me with those powerful, deft hands, I'd make plenty of noise too. Cut that out this instant. I couldn't start anything anyway, with incarceration looming ahead of me.

Lachlan rose and rolled back his muscular shoulders. "Your dog seems to like me."

"His name is Casey, and he's easier than a drunk hooker. He gets just as excited about the mailman and the squirrel in the backyard."

"Careful, with words like those I might get to thinking you fancy me."

"Then you're easier than Casey. Unfortunately, I'm no longer in the market for romance."

"You did kiss me last night."

"I—well—" My cheeks flamed hot enough to fry eggs. I fixated on the door jamb and rocked back on my heels. "Do you want the damn brownies or what?"

"You are a difficult one, aren't you?" I couldn't help glancing at him, and my stomach did a stupid little flip-flop. He winked. "I love a challenge."

"Oh please." I shook my head. "I'd have you fleeing back to Scotland in a week, tops."

He swung the door wide, sweeping an arm in a come-in gesture. Casey tumbled over the threshold first. As I shuffled past Lachlan, he slipped the bag from my shoulder. "A gentleman never permits a lady to carry a heavy load."

"It's brownies, not iron ore."

He shut the door. "Indulge me."

Another ridiculous flip-flop in my stomach. "Fine. But if you try to carry me, I'll bite you."

"An intriguing offer."
Crystal: When you are not busy writing wonderful stories to keep us lucky readers entertained, what do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?

Anna: I enjoy making jewelry, playing with my puppies, and going for scenic drives. I'm lucky to live in a beautiful region, so I don't need to travel far to find gorgeous vistas!
Crystal: Do you have a favorite background noise you like to having going while you write (TV, Music, kids playing)?

Anna: I always listen to music while writing. Songs with vocals inspire me as I prepare to write, but during the actual writing process I prefer orchestral scores from movies and TV series.
Crystal: Thanks for visiting. It has been a pleasure having you visit today. Can you think of anything else you would like to share with us today?

Anna: I hope everyone is having a wonderful new year!

EXCERPT:

"Let me buy you a drink." He gestured to the bartender. "In the name of neighborliness and all."

Neighborliness? A totally nutso part of me, "buckled" on hormones, urged me to forget any and all flaws this hot Scot might reveal. Take a risk. I'd already enacted that part of the mantra, by asking out a guy I met online. Next, I needed to engage in an adventure, aka one night of mind-blowing sex as a send-off before my freedom was snatched away from me. Part three urged me to be wild whenever the opportunity arose.

And arise it had. In the form of one tantalizing man in a kilt.

Danger, danger, a warning siren screamed in my brain. I smashed the blasted thing to shreds. It was a remnant of the old me, the boring, organized accountant who never had any real fun.

Cliff picked up my half-empty glass and swished the liquid inside. He scrunched his nose in mock disgust. "Brandy? That's a bairn's drink." He deposited the glass on the bar. "You're in a club. Have a real drink with me."

Be wild. I leaned against the bar, shoulders rolled back, and flicked my hair. "Sure. What did you have in mind?"
